Dental Care
A complete dental exam is performed by a licensed veterinarian and the teeth are corrected using power and hand tools under sedation. Horses should be checked once a year unless there are circumstances which require more frequent exams.
Vaccination
Herd work and consultation is performed on an hourly basis at your ranch or facilities. Routine work such as pregancy checking using ultrasound (definitive diagnosis of pregnancy at 30 days or sooner, fetal sexing at 56-70 days, reproductive issues in donor cows, etc. can be evaluated), brucellosis vaccination and/or TB and Bangs testing, and breeding soundness exams on herd sires or sale bulls (including Trichomoniasis testing).
Veterinary Ophthalmology
Comprehensive Examination
General Medicine and Surgical Services are currently offered. Dental floats with state of the art equipment, Routine Castrations and Emergency After Hours Care are available. Wellness Exams, Vaccinations and Coggins. Complete work-ups of performance animals including lameness evaluations and joint injections available.

Veterinary Surgery
MTVA is a large animal hospital established in 2009 as a referral center for all large animals requiring specialized medical and surgical care. Today MTVA is in the process of building facilities to offer a full range of services including surgery, internal medicine, advanced diagnostic imaging, and reproductive services. The practice currently provides ambulatory services to Central Texas for emergencies, preventative care, general reproduction, radiography, medical care and treatment of your horses, cattle or deer at your ranch or stable. Our reputation stems from our unwavering commitment to quality, both in the care of animals and in our relationship with clients and community.
Spaying and Neutering
MTVA provides the official veterinary services for the American Bucking Horse Registry. Bucking stock horses take more patience and better handling facilities than do other breeds of horses. Luckily they are generally much heartier and have better immunity than a lot of horse breeds, but they still may need handling for Coggins, castration, or injury. Younger, less seasoned animals are more likely to be injured with handling, as well. If you have bucking stock horses, please call us and we can assist you in your veterinary needs.

X-Ray
This is a normal radiograph of a young Thoroughbred in preparation for Keeneland sales (views were taken with KY division of MTVA). Digital radiography has expanded our ability to diagnose things more accurately and quickly by making superb views readily available.
