My wife and I have been coming to Dr. Ron Stone several years now. We had a pug, Turbo, which had a major problem urinating and etc. Dr. Stone made it a point to be there on a Sunday evening. He said it was a rare situation problem we had here. He made Turbo comfortable and more stable. Turbo was brought home to us ... for quite a long time. We had frequent visits to Dr. Stone's practice. After a period of time Turbo got worse, another Sunday evening and Dr. Ron Stone was there. Turbo died in her arms. What Dr. Stone did was impressive. How he comforted my wife. He even gave her a container to bury Turbo in.
Since then we have another pug. We asked Ron Stone would he be his doc. He has been going to him for routine care. He cares. This pug, Coco, at this time is under Dr. Ron Stone's care for an ulcer on the cornea. What a difference after removing stitches. Coco is home now and what a difference in being his old self. If Coco could talk he would say, "Thank You Doc" for leaving me see again. And my next visit he will see how happy Coco is.

I personally recommend Dr. Stone and the Veterinary Trauma Center. I am sure that my daughter's little dog is alive today because of Dr. Stone. He came in at 3AM on a Sunday morning after we found my daughter's dog had been run over by a car. I thought for sure that the poor thing was gone but Dr. Stone did everything possible and she came out of surgery just fine and is running around healthy and strong today. Our pets are a real part of our family and the Veterinary Trauma Center treats them that way. If you have need for any type of care or treatment for your pet this is absolutely the best place to call anytime day or night.

Took my pet to the Veterinary Trauma and Medical Center after a family friend had good success there and recommended them. I too was impressed with the doctor's ability and the staff was very friendly. Very pleased.

We had a serious problem with our cat Gracy, An infected absessed tooth effected her ability to stand or hold her head steady as the poison was diagnoised as causing her to lose her equalibrium. This all came about on a Tuesday evening and Dr. Stone was very understanding and rushed down to his office at 10:00 pm to examine her. She spent the night there and had surgury the next morning. He was very informative and we felt very comfortable with his knowledge and skills. It's two weeks now since the operation and she saw the Dr. this morning and got a clean bill of health. We would highly recomend his service and have done so to several of our friends. Great Job Dr. Stone, Thank you. Bill & Maryjo M.

By FAR the most qualified vete...

By FAR the most qualified veterinarian in the area. When I went in with my Golden who had been seen by THREE other veterinarians, Dr. Stone was able to diagnose Einstein with bladder stones almost immediately, it was incredible! Not only was Dr. Stone the only qualified veterinarian in the area who had the equipment and skills to even diagnose my pup, but he was the only guy for miles who could even do the surgery! This dog has been by my side for years and i don't know what would have happen to my friend if I hadn't found Dr. Stone when I did, Einstein had been so miserable for so long. He saved my dog, and I have been bringing him my other pets ever since. I can say with absolute certainty that Dr. Stone is MORE than fair and justified in his prices. For the skill level at which he practices, I am surprised he doesn't charge more. There is a difference between 'expensive' and 'costly'. Yes, some of the fees that can accrue from vet bills can add up to a lot, but when you look at how much work the man is putting into saving your pets life, and how many resources it takes, I would urge anyone reading this to think about that. When I made a comment about his prices, Dr. Stone used the example of paying a buck for a burger at McDonalds and maybe 100 for a luxury dining experience at a 4 star restaurant. He is absolutely right, you get what you pay for. If you've been paying peanuts to try and fix your pet and it's not working, well maybe there's a reason that veterinarian doesn't charge very much. In regards to the previous comment, I have never in my life seen anyone with such compassion and love for animals, and I know for a fact (having been to the Trauma center for countless visits) that there's a difference between 'slamming' a dog onto a table, and firmly holding it down for the protection of the vet techs and the pet itself. Also I did a little investigating, and turns out the local Veterinarians all own shares of the Leesburg Emergency Clinic, so if you ever wonder why your primary veterinarian won't refer to Dr. Stone for an emergency or upper level procedure, don't you think for a minute it has anything to do with his qualifications.

Veterinary Trauma Center in Gr...

Veterinary Trauma Center in Groveland Florida. WORSE EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE AND MY DOG'S LIFE!!! My dog was in a lot of pain. He was taken into a vet before and was thought to have arthritis related pain on his spinal cord. During his last visit he had tail bone pain, this time it seemed to be more towards the front legs/shoulders. Dr.Stone began to examine my small beagle on his examining table. He grabbed the dogs legs and slammed him onto his side down on the table. My dog was in so much pain he began shaking badly after being slammed on the table. After that my dog could not even stand. Dr.Stone talked for about 20mins. while my dog leaned against me in pain, his eyes were huge and he was still shaking. Every chance I got I asked Dr.Stone if we could give him something for the pain and he kept talking. Finally after what seemed to be hours he gave him a shot of analgesia and adecuan. I've seen many shots given to both of my dogs before and this was the first shot ever that made my dog jump and cry in pain, then bleed on the table from the spot where the shot was given. Dr.Stone said it was because the shot had to go deep into the muscle. Overall there was no care for my dog being in pain. I'm not an expert but if a dog come into the clinic with severe pain, slamming him onto his side on the examining table might not be a good idea. I'm not even worried about the $315 charged for my visit as long as I don't have to deal with this vet EVER again!

Reply to Dr's response:

Dr I have never met you outside of this night when this incident happened. I don't personally know you nor do I know anyone that personally knows you. Why in the world would I have a reason to lie about my experience at your Clinic the night I took my dog in?? My dog was in a lot of pain this night when I took him in and I was glad to find a place after hours that will see my dog. However I did not have a good experience at your Clinic for the reasons listed above. I don't doubt that other customers have had good experiences at your Clinic however this was not the case for myself and my poor beagle. I love my pets and I am a very honest and fair person. Reviews are very important especially when it comes to the care of those that I love. I take these reviews serious because my pets are part of my family and I love them very much, which is why I took the time to reply to your response. I wish that I could give a good review on your Clinic but I can only go by my experience from 1 night. I pass your Clinic all of the time as I live 3 mins from there and I drive past it to other veterinary clinics in the Clermont area, and have even gone to Maitland to get special treatment for my 9 year old German Shepherd that had cancer . I have never experienced anything close to what I did this night at your Clinic, at any other veterinary clinic. And FYI this is the first time that I've ever written a bad review of any vet clinic. I appreciate vet clinics that care for their customers (people and pets). I don't mind small stuff such as waiting for a long time or even if I find a rude staff member I understand everyone has a bad day! The only thing that I cannot overlook is when someone mishandles my pets which is sadly what happened at your Clinic. Reading all of the great reviews on your Clinic makes me very happy to know that this might have been a 1 time thing for your clinic. I'm hoping all of those reviews come from very satisfied customers, that will be great. But for me, my experience was way too horrible for me to give your Clinic a 2nd chance. I love my pets that much! Good luck to you Dr and to your business. I hope that you're helping others and giving them a better vet experience than what I had.

Whenever a professional receives a negative commentary it is always a sad experience and responding to such comments always puts one at risk of an unpleasant back and forth match. I feel obligated to respond to this one however as the writer went out o the way to makes us seem uncaring or insensitive. First of all one has to ask whether what a reviewer writes makes sense. I can only ask: Does it stand to reason that a veterinarian would be one of the only ones in his county willing to respond personally after hours to an emergency with a sick pet only to mistreat the patient? Of course not. "Slammed to the table? Really? Truth is patients that present with neuromuscular signs are placed on an examination table and some are more tractable than others, especially those with balance issues. Talked for 20 minute? Perhaps the client is referring to our taking of a clinical history to find out what the disease or injury is. Or if there are contraindications to medications or a history of other drugs being used that might have cross reactions. Perhaps a doctor waits before administering drugs for the same reason you can't just walk into an ER and ask for aspirin without a history and an exam first. I noticed from another review this client wrote about another practice that she "wouldn't trust any other veterinaarian." After thrity years of practice I can tell you that trust issues can cause a great deal of problems when trying to handle an emergency and occasionally one has to explain more to a doubting client. I will never appologize for trying to explain as much as I can to a concerned owner. By the way, the medications presribed and the injections given were for pain, but this reviewer declined other services recommended such as radiographs or physical therapy. I will publicly apologize for any client who walks in our practice and is not given attentive service but this was not the case here.

When my pet needed knee surgery my veterinarian didn't do this type and wanted to send me to a place in another country. I called around and found Dr. Ronald Stone. He not only performed the surgery but the Veterinary Medical Center in Groveland did followup physical therapy and reahbilitation with cold laser. We were very happy with the results and there is hardly a scar or limp now.

I have been to the Veterinary Trauma Center of Grovelnd several times over the years usually for minor things like diarrhea or cuts and such. This past month however my dog was diagnosed with a bladder stone and needed surgery. From what I understand Dr. Stone used to do surgery at the University in Miami and is very competent. Thank goodness for that. Sasha is back to his old self now. I highly recommend the Center to dog and cat owners.

Very competent doctor and staff. The head nurse Cheri and I had a nice talk and she showed me her little dog Cha Cha. She apparently has been a vet nurse for twenty years and is very well trained. My cat Rufus was having trouble urinating. Doctor Stone at the Trauma Center diagnosed the problem as "FUS" Rufus had to stay in the hospital for a couple of days and have a procedure done to unclog his obstruction but now everything is fine. What most impressed me was the detail they took in explaining everything that had to be done. I always worried when I had to leave Rufus before but apparently he did very well there. Thanks to them.

I went to the Vetrinary Trauma Group in Groveland after Jake my cat had been diagnosed with pancreatitis. Dr. Stone disagreed with the diagnosis and blood tests and Xrays showed it was not pancreatitis but a slipped disc instead. Apparently this is not very common in cats but Dr. Stone must have been right because the treatment he performed worked great. Recommend them if you need a second opinion (or even a first). Clean place and nice staff.

I had been elsewhere on several occasions for a bad skin problem my dog Buster had. We tried a number of sprays, shampoos, and antibiotics. Nothing seemed to help. Dr. Stone showed me a slide presentation about allergy and recommended that we have him tested and he checked Buster's thyroid level as well. Both tests indicated a problem and we are now on the correct medications. Buster is much more comfortable for the first time in a long time. Buster and I are very grateful.

My pet dog Sassie was spayed at the Center in Groveland. They did a great job. I suppose I could have had it done cheaper elsewhere but she means the world to me and I wanted all the bases covered as I had a bad experience years ago at another place. Dr. Stone has a great way with dogs and we had no issues. I can recommend them.

I had to laugh when I went to the Veterinary Trauma Center in Groveland as they have pet squirrels in the waiting room to keep the people entertained I guess. When I was escorted into the exam room the doctor showed me an impressive video slide show about similar cases he'd seen to my dog and then showed me the equipment they have available. Really set my mind at ease that they were both friendly yet competent.

Truthfully I was a little skeptical when I went to the Trauma Center. It looks like a house from the outside but when you enter it is redone to a clinic that is very clean. They staff is professional and there were more than a few plaques on the wall about the doctor's successes. Found them to be nice and very efficient.

Over the years when my pets have needed care I always visit Dr. Stone's office in Groveland, Florida. It is comforting to know that there is someone available when we need them. When my dog was run over by a car one night after getting loose from the yard we called and Dr. Stone agreed to meet us at his office even though it was almost 3 am. We made the drive from Orlando and he was there waiting for us. It is nice to see that there are still some people left in the world who really are devoted to their profession and run thier business ethically. I would recommend them to anyone in the Central Florida area who loves their pets and wants the best care.
