I found this church through a Google search on Methodist Churches in Chicago. When I walked in the door on Palm Sunday, the beautiful architecture and wonderful (albeit guest musician's) music was beautiful. Later that week, there was a dinner, and I thought I'd check it out. I pulled up in my car, playing a Patty Griffin CD in my car and when I walked through the doors of the church, the same CD was playing - almost as if me and the church had been playing the same radio station. Since then, I've joined and gotten pretty involved in the church. The people are warm, welcoming and great. The sermons are thought provoking. EVERYONE is welcome in the doors, no matter what. No judgment. I don't know if yellow pages will provide you with a way to contact me, but if they do, feel free to email me with questions! Katie

As the only white member of this all black church, all I have to say is that I should done this 20 years ago. It's an incredible christian experience plus as a swing music musician the collective atmosphere is very extremely historical. As a white male I have gained a understanding of the black community. In many ways I see the color barrier at all. In many ways, black people are superior to the white race. Harvey Memorial Community Church has a level genuine sincerity that I have never found before. Tellas Jackson is one talented speaker. He is almost one of a kind. The music is out of this world. They truly connect with God in a very real way. This is not a fake church. It's the real deal.
