Ok, I went having read the reviews and of course I ordered the Prime Rib. It was ok. It was not OMG good, but it was decent Prime Rib. Now I'm taking into account the fact I was there pretty early on a Thursday night when it was not busy. I'm sure that if I was there during a busier time that perhaps it would have been better? I don't' know.. I think House of Prime Rib in SF is much better quality, and just going by the reviews I had read, I was expecting better, so I was a little disappointed. Now to the decor, the place sooo does not have a Prime Rib feel to it. Really its set up to look like a fun bright orange bistro. with a min sports bar in the back. It's funny I saw a group of 4 show up and they did a double take at the front door, looking in walking back and forth and finally coming in and saying to themselves, "yea this is it" after seeing prime rib on the menu. So like I said, it's good. It's got potential, I don't like the location, I hate the tables and chairs, and I'm completely against a restraunt that has a TV playing while your eating. Especially Prime Rib. I'm not even going to get into the table next tom mine with some brat kid playing with some obnoxious toy that made lots of noise while his Berekly wanna-be parents sat there pretending like he was an angel. Prices were good. Food was ok. Decor and size is awful.
We ate at the downstairs, where the prices are reasonable. Phenomenal food. I had the pizza and our other guests had the pork/polenta and the penne…
I adore this place! i go there whenever we see their door open. The have a fairly large menu with quite reasonable prices. The food is great and the service is superb. The couple that runs it are so cute and its hard not to come. Although the restaurant is small is has a real homely feel to it. Your food is made when you order it with fresh ingredients, exactly how you order it, in front of you! I gave them four stars instead of five because I never know when they are open. Their hours are so weird sometime that you have to ride by and hope their door is open...but when it is expect to see me there! The restaurant is a little shy of the corner of Fruitvale and Foothill, which are two very busy main streets so parking and traffic can be slightly hectic but if you luck up and find a spot near the entrance (or park in Walgreens lot), please do go in and enjoy a home cooked meal that will fill you up and not leave you broke.
One of the best burgers I've had in a long time. Charbroiled the way a burger should ALWAYS be cooked. I had the Bacon/Cheddar burger. The bacon was smoky and thick, the way bacon should ALWAYS be and the cheddar was REAL cheddar. Service was friendly and prompt. And the Banana Shake....well let me just say...DA BOMB! Real banana used and you could feel the texture. So rich and creamy, like Banana Pudding. I would go there over and over again and I have told everyone I know about it. Thanks Sparky, for keeping in real!
