I hope that you never have a need for long term acute care for your loved ones, but if you do, insist on going to Kindred - St Louis on Lindell. Having had the need for a great deal of acute and rehab care for my mom in recent years, I can speak from experience. The level of quality, safe, compassionate, consistent, and expert care can not be surpassed. All of the staff that we encountered were truly exceptional. They truly CARE ABOUT AND FOR the patients entrusted to them. My mom was treated with respect and compassion by everyone as was my family. Paul from the front desk knew our names, housekeeping greeted us with smiles and kind words, Deb, our case manager was involved and kept us informed, Fred from Radiology was always kind and extra gentle with our frail mom, the Therapy pros from PT, Speech, and Resp were wonderful and mom liked the food too. There are not enough glowing adjectives to describe the bedside nurses (Stephanie, Tracy, Rachael), wound care nurses (Michele and Andrea), and CNAs, (Marva, Rene, Sulaney) as they were all simply outstanding. The physicians even had great bed-side manners and get this...the senior hospital administrators introduced themselves to us. The most important part of healthcare decisions, in my opinion, always come down to the quality of care and I could not have made a better decision for my mom than to admit her to Kindred St. Louis on Lindell.

The emergency room staff was very good but the admitting clerk was involved with personal issues than with patient's. After being admitting into the hospital. Being a diabetic and not having any food for over eight hours put my health at risk. The food service closes at 6:30 pm and only vending is available for patient's, visitor's, and staff. No back-up or "what if" plan for patient's like me or if a major accident. The nursing and supportive staff are friendly, highly professional, and caring. The food service is like room service in a hotel and the food is a high rate in my book and personalize serve my professional personel. When you go for a test the area's have light grills with clouds and tree limbs; makes the patient at ease. The T.V. channels are limited to local & cable channels, could increase channels for patients who are stuck in their room. Overall experience as apatient made my stay comfortable which allows my healing faster.
I was admitted to Kindred Healthcare after having abdominal surgery to remove contaminated mesh from an earlier hernia repair surgery. My wound had to be cleaned and packed daily by a very efficient staff headed by a young nurse by the name of Denise. While under the care of the staff at Kindred, I was well taken care of and learned to love each and every one of my caregivers. The staff there went above and beyond normal nursing care. They all show true compassion for all the serious patients that must care for. I can't say enough good things about each and everyone that I had the pleasure of gracing my room and caring for me as if I were one of their family members:) Thanks to you all! Sincerely, Daryl Ryan of Millstadt, Illinois. I was in there from December 2006 thru the middle of January 2007. I always have the utmost respect for each and everyone of you wonderful people!!
