Updated Review: I've given this place a shot 4 times now, all with different people. The first time was fine, but the second through last time were not. Basically the bad times were when the head chef (Kim) was not there. The pho broth was super salty - did someone accidentally dump a whole bottle of fish sauce in the broth? It was hard to enjoy the soup since I couldn't even drink most of the broth. This has happened 3/4 times. Also, extra charges for side vegetables like onions and cilantro?!?! For $10/bowl I should at least get a good helping of that. My fiancé does like the entree rice dishes, though. A very pricey Vietnamese restaurant, but since it's one of few in Glendale and located in the mall, I guess it can do that. I've had way better for way cheaper elsewhere.

Don't come if you don't see chef Kim. You'll leave wishing you had a gallon of water to saturate your thirst from the salt.

Original review:

Very pricey for pho. and other vietnamese food. The broth was delicious, but it's pretty painful to pay $9 for a bowl of pho. This is a new trendy/hipster restaurant inside the Glendale Galleria, right across from the street from the Cheesecake factory at the Americana. It can be kind of loud, given the atmosphere of being inside a mall near an entrance/exit. We get meatball appetizers, which ame out after a good 30 minute wait. $8 for 4 tiny meatballs? That was definitely not worth it. There are plenty of other Vietnamese restaurants in the area that are good and won't cost as much.

As far as service goes, I don't know why it took forever for a bowl of pho to come out especially since there seemed to be an abundance of staff on duty. 3 managers, and 3 hostesses, and a bunch of waiters. I know this place is new, but geez, do you need to have a whole marching band to run a small restaurant?

Broth was good, but not sure if I'd go back, especially since you have to pay extra for extra cilantro, onions, etc.

Overall

I ate here tonight after a long day. Honestly, the service made it seem longer. I ordered crab cakes for appetizer at almost $10. They were the tiniest crab cakes I have ever eaten in my life. Four pieces slightly bigger than a quarter. Thai BBQ and other Thai restaurants in Hollywood serve better crab cakes that this one for sure. The noodle soup I had was their Spicy 'N Sour soup. The soup was great. It had some fish fillet, shrimp, pineapples which came as a delight and it was not too spicy. Aside from the herbs too, that was it for the ingredients. Another sad part was it took them more than 20 min to serve it. I was not sure if they were just pacing it or what. I was just glad that the server kept me updated as to what's going with my order. But to be fair, the servers were nice and courteous, the restaurant was clean, the food was good compared to the more than a dozen other asian and vietnamese restaurants I have been in the last few years. I just hope that next time, the service will be quicker.

By the way, the ambiance was modern so you really don't get that authentic feeling of eating in a vietnamese restaurant but at least it's something different from the rest.

Overall
not authentic Pho

thumb up for waiter. down for the host.. lots of open seat but take awhile to be seated... Pho was salty, very plain just slices of beef and meatball? non-authentic Pho, very expensive 9$..9$ for a bowl of Pho... ? not recommended if you're going to get authentic Vietnamese Pho

I loved their Pho. Especially ...

I loved their Pho. Especially the soup! As far as the soup, I thought it tasted better than other Pho places in Glendale like Pho hut or Glendale Pho. Negative is the price; it's much pricier than these other Pho places in Glendale and much less "free" meat and vegetables (although you can pay extra to add more). My husband tried Fried rice and that was just ok.
