Discount Cab

I have driven for several cab companies in the Phoenix area over the years and I will say that thou Discount Cab is far from perfect, they are leaps and bounds ahead of the others. They recently tried to switch their business model from Prius cabs to an all wheelchair accessible van fleet. Many drivers and customers left the company because they did not like the change. Within a few months, Discount brought back the Prius cabs, having realized their mistake, but they only brought back a fraction of the number of Prius cabs. Thus, there are not near enough Prius cabs for the number of drivers wanting to lease them. So dozens of willing drivers are turned away every day due to the poor planning and management of those that run the company.

As for the drivers, most of those I have seen and talked to are of a higher quality then those of their competitors. I have not found any drivers that did not speak English well enough to be understood easily and only a few that, in my opinion, should seriously rethink their choices of dress and hygiene.

My biggest concern about Discount is that they charge their drivers high "call fees"! For every call a driver takes, they are charged anywhere from a dollar a call (on vouchers) to $2.25 for calls payed for by the passenger with cash or credit cards. On an average day, this adds up to upwards of $30.00 a day on a 12 hour lease. Add to that the cost of your cab lease ($107.00 on a Prius, Monday thru Friday) and paying for gas and to have your cab washed and cleaned inside, a driver has to make about $150.00 a day before they get to see any money themselves. And since the company has cut back on staff and hours of operation, if you want a cab for Saturday and /or Sunday, you have to lease it for both days at a lease rate of $130.00 a day ($260.00 for both days).

The management should seriously think about increasing the number of Prius cabs the have for lease, lowering the fees on calls, and expanding the hours of "The Cage"!

Great service! All cabs are clean that I have been in. Arrives usually between 5-20 minutes. I booked a cab to the Mall in Scottsdale and was very happy with the service!

I believe most of these reviews see written by jealous competitors. They may not be perfect, no company is. But if you take into consideration the fact they handle an average of 5,000 calls a day, one or two unhappy passengers is bound over. That means there are thousands of satisfied customers a day. Really, people?? Come on!!

Neighbor regularly uses their service. Yesterday the driver parked the cab directly in front of my driveway. I waited for a moment, the cab driver didn't move. I pulled closer behind the cab. Nothing. I opened the garage door. Nothing. I honked the horn. Nothing. I got out and told her she needed to move. I wast told that I was rude and she would move when she was done. She did eventually move the cab - the one that she had parked illegally IN my driveway.



I contacted Discount Cab so that they would be aware and asked for some assurance that cab driver would not park illegally in front of driveway - you know, obey the law. Guess what? Nothing. No reply, no acknowledgement. I don't know if all the cab drivers and management are completely incompetent and rude, but I certainly will never use Discount Cab.

I was celebrating my bday with my friends and had a little too much. They called me a cab and gave him my address and told him to take me home. My friends called my husband to let him know I was on y way home. About 45 minutes later my husband calls that cab company because I was not home. Cathy a supervisor there was unhelpful and rude. I woke up in a city that was 30 minutes away in a hotel room compromised. I called discount back and told cathy what happened. She was not concerned at all about a driver assaulting me. I was shocked by her response. I will tell everyone never to use this company again.......sexual assault is not cool

This Discount Cab is WORST in Phoenix! Avoid Using Discount Cab! They are totally

incompetent and completely undependable. Discount Cab has the World's Worst

Cab Dispatchers & Most Pathetic Cab Drivers in Phoenix. They have even took off without picking me up and sent their cab to the wrong address for over one hour and

deserve to have their license revolked. My HMO uses them and they are totally unreliable and made me miss a Doctor Appointment. I give them 5 Total Negative Stars. I will never use Discount Cabs Again. Avoid using them as their service is a mess and their dispatchers and some of their drivers are total incompetent fools.

Called company from the store i had shopped and the car was on site ten minutes later. Driver was clean as his car and very friendly. Driver loaded my cart into the car and told me to have a seat in air conditioning while he finished the job. Driver also helped me get my stuff to my apartment and even rounded down the fare from the meter.



Have used them many times and will continue to do so.

Not great as far as being on time.



I had to wait more than 45 min. I was late for my appointment. I would not ride again unless I don't have a choice.

i never ride discount cab but i heard is good services and will i was wondering how much is the rate

I called this company to take me to an important interview. I scheduled the pick appointment the day before my interview, but the cab was 25 minutes late, the cab reeked of cigarette smoke, making my new suit smell like smoke. To add to the frustration the driver did not know how to get to the UNIVERSITY I was interviewing at.

I called three area companies to schedule a pickup on short notice, and this was the only one who could accomidate me on short notice. The driver was 5 minutes early for the arrival time, and the cab was clean, and driver was friendly. I went to my destination, and it was a stress free experience. I'd recommend calling this company first.
