Southwest Blinds & Shutters

Our hybrid "One World" poly/wood shutters were installed yesterday (1/7/2020). This is our first time owning plantation shutters so I have no basis for comparison on other vendors or product. I am a retired engineer and tend to be a stickler for details during both the sale and order processing process and with the quality of the product itself.

Sale and order processing process: Andrew made the initial visit to our home and went over the various options available to us. The pricing he provided was at or below the pricing of two other vendors we had bidding on the job for what we believed to be a similar product. Upon our decision to go with Southwest, Andrew assisted in finalizing and placing the order. Overall, the order process went smoothly. The only negative aspect was the delivery schedule. The order was placed on 10/4/2019 with an estimated Project Completion date given as 12/10/2019. While the month delay didn't really impact us I thought it noteworthy for other potential buyers who may be on a tight schedule.

Product quality: thus far I am happy with the quality of the shutters. the wood frame has tight mitered corners and equal gap distance between the frame and louvered door. I'm very impressed with the quality of the paint on the frames. The installer said the frames are dipped in a paint vat and then baked on giving it a very smooth professional look.

Surprises: certainly not a dig on Southwest. However, we would caution buyers that are considering shutters on shorter windows. We had three smaller windows in our living room (35" wide x 23" tall) that we weren't sure what to do with. We decided to try shutters but have regretted that decision now that they are up. The issue is that by the time you include the frame height and top/bottom stationary panel on the louvered door that doesn't give you much window opening (see attached photo). We will probably remove the doors and leave the frames.

Overall..happy with Southwest

The sales representative, Ann, is very knowledgeable and professional. She knows the product and answers all questions. This is a no pressure to buy company which is rare these days. Being retired military, we appreciate the 5% discount. It did take a week longer than the estimated delivery date for the blinds to arrive. Once they were here, we received a call and the blinds were installed a few days later. Install team showed up on time and were professional.

The salesperson, and installer, Aaron, was very knowledgeable and professional. He even joked about our "purple" blinds. The humor was a nice touch.

Overall painless experience, easy design process...Had a wait a bit for the products to arrive but once in hand the installers had them done quickly and arrived on time...Thanks!

We had shutters installed. They came in a couple of days before expected which was great, since it was Christmas time. The installers were running early which was good for us.
