Located on the North East corner of Blackstone and Herndon, near Dennys is a hidden little Gem of a restaurant called GEM OF THAILAND. My first experience eating Thai food was at this quaint little place. What a treat! Fresh local vegetibles go into their cooking which makes for some wonderful flavors and healthy food. I have since become a regular customer, enjoying a variety of the many items to choose from on the extensive menu but my favorites are the Panang Salmon and the Green Curry Duck. The food is prepared to order so what you order is made for YOU. I have special requests as to the mild or spicy element of the dishes I order and I have never felt my picky taste is an annoyance. What I want is made with care to suit me. How nice is that? As if the great food is not enough reason to go there, how about the warm feeling of being so welcome. Gem, the owner, is a sweet little Thai woman who welcomes her customers, even the new first time visitors as friends. Her customers are number 1 and she makes that obvious in how she welcomes and serves them all. She employs her sister and son to help her so the family atmosphere and ethnic nature is ever present. The eclectic decor, ambient music and cleanliness are just some of the details that I find uncommon in restaurants today. GO AND ENJOY! Lets keep this little GEM of a restaurant successful in these troubled times. The food is great and the prices are truely a bargain. I for one would like to keep going there for years to come. Sincerely, A Picky Eater

This review is directed sloely to the first comment left by Tracy Thompson. I am an employee used to work at Reflections a few years ago, and I am very disheartened to see that there are customers who will go so far as to lying to make themselves feel better about their own unique flaws. I will not go into to too much detail, however I had my own chair next to Tracy's hairsresser, and will say that the siitaution Tracy is speaking of with the salon straff occured only becaszue Tracy could not properly manage her own PERSONAL finances. Funny how after this horrible customer service she recived, she still continued coming back! WHile I worked there the staff, both hairdressers and front desk, was helpful, organized, and extremely polite. My customers never comaplined, I only left because I had to relocate. Please do not be thwarted by these negative comments left. And also, I would like just like to say in reaction to the comment left about minoritiy's. First of all I am a minority and second of all most of my clients are minorities. Never once did I or any of them have issues becasue of our race. The staff truly was good to EVERYONE. And remeber that is a former employee saying that!
Made an appointment for a haircut arrive five minutes before my appointment time I approach the front desk gave the receptionist my name and the time of my appointment she said have a seat I waited exactly 26 minutes no one approached me in regards to my appointment three customers walked in while I was waiting they were greeted and jacket was taken they were offered something to drink such as water. My jacket was not taken from me like the rest of the customers that walk in nor water was offered to me. Waiting for total of 30 minutes exactly I went to the front desk inquiring about my appointment... she said have a seat i'll see who can cut your hair we we usually don't cut your type of Hair... I'll see who can cut your type of hair. I said that's fine cancel my appointment and I walked out poor service for African American at that salon! Shameful
