My husband wanted to use the tax return to look into new cabinets. He started looking around to different websites, and I mentioned that my grandparents went with Sears in the early 90's because their cabinets are STILL beautiful. We went in and visited them, and they set up a date and time for them to come out. I ended up having to work that afternoon so he was there by himself. That night when I got home, he told me how bad it went. I asked him what happened. He told me that the guy showed up, took three measurements, told him that they could get back in touch with him soon, and left. The guy didn't explain or discuss anything. He didn't show my husband any options for various stained wood or painted colors. He didn't come prepared with the different size cabinets or anything. He was here less than ten minutes. Could our kitchen fit a pantry? What about the cabinet size? Could we use the empty space betwen the top of our current cabinets to the ceiling for larger cabinets? My husband got really discouraged with the guy when he said that the minimum cost would be about $8,000. Why agree to pay this much for cabinets we're not even sure we like or want? Ridiculous. We started looking around for ourselves, doing various measurements that took nearly an hour. We found a website where we could get an entire new kitchen for about $2,500...and that's INCLUDING shipping! We never did hear back from him. No wonder this was free!
