I am Gwenette, the owner of Monroe Tutoring Center, LLC. I worked several years at a local private school where I taught kindergarten and first-grade. I began the center out of my passion to help students have fun learning math and reading. It brings me great pleasure to see my students master skills they have been struggling with for so long. Background - Five years as a para-professional for Caroline County Public Schools - Six years of teaching math and reading at a local Private School - More than 10 years tutoring experience for grades K-12 - Member of the NTA (National Tutoring Association) - Provide online tutoring support for California students preparing or the CAHSEE (California High School Exit Exam) - Tutoring experience with GED, ASVAB, SAT and ACT test prep SPECIALTIES Monroe Tutoring Center is a place where children and adults come to seek help with math and reading skills! The Center provides services for Fredericksburg and surrounding counties. At the center students receive assistance with mathematics, pre-algebra, consumer math, and reading comprehension. Students looking to prepare for the math sections on tests such as the ASVAB and ACT are also welcome. During the school year, the center offers homework assistance online and in person. Parents are relieved to know their child will not only get expert help with math problems, but will also learn test taking and study skills. These slots fill quickly, so don't delay! The center was created after seeing some students needed help with academics and confidence building, outside of the classroom setting. Monroe Tutoring has grown from being a small room in an apartment to an office located on Route1.

Services/Products

Individual sessions are one hour and provide students with a quiet environment to learn free of the distractions found in classroom settings. These sessions may also be conducted online. Students are assessed during the first meeting to determine learning needs and what learning style method will best benefit them and how often tutoring services are required to meet their learning needs. Services may include focusing on homework or on improving skills in reading or math. Group sessions are one hour and provides students a place to receive homework support. Additional resources such as reference materials and a computer lab with internet access are also provided to facilitate learning. Students may sign up to attend group sessions online or at the center. Contact the center for more details. Test preparation is offer because test taking is difficult for many of us, as we all have our own unique learning style. When preparing for a test, anxiety can be quite a challenge. Our first step is to determine areas of needed improvement. Then, the student learns to incorporate study strategies and to improve testing skills on ASVAB, ACT, GED, and more!
