Sinusitis

Some people experience problems but can’t find much to alleviate the symptoms. Fortunately, you can find long-term relief through sinus surgery.
Medical Weight Loss

Endoscopy
There are many ways, but the most common include a nasal endoscopy which requires a thin flexible tube with a camera to be inserted into the sinuses to allow the doctor to see inside. There is also a CT scan which takes images of your sinus and nasal area. They are great at identifying deep inflammation and obstruction. If your ENT suspects allergies are playing a role than an allergy test will be administered to determine the allergen responsible.

Dr. Crook, Jr. was born and raised in Memphis and earned his undergraduate and medical degrees at the University of Tennessee. He remained in Memphis for graduate medical training in general surgery and otolaryngology at the University of Tennessee Health Sciences Center. During that time, he published a journal article and his findings were presented at lectures in Pittsburgh, Washington DC, and Toronto. Dr. Crook, Jr. then came to Nashville to join his father’s practice in otolaryngology. Since coming to Nashville, he has served as president of the Nashville Academy of Otolaryngology, a board member for the EAR Foundation, chief of Otolaryngology at Baptist Hospital, and on the surgical advisory committee of Centennial Medical Center. He is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and is an active member of Rotary International. He is board certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology and has been named one of the “Best Doctors in America” by his peers. He treats patients with all ear, nose, and throat diseases. In his spare time he can be found hunting and fishing or spending time with his wife and children.

Rhinoplasty
For many patients, allergy treatment and antibiotics can control sinusitis; however, for others, surgery may be required. Our highly-qualified ENT surgeons can perform balloon sinuplasty, a minimally-invasive, in-office sinus procedure for patients seeking relief from painful sinus infections. For patients whose breathing problems are caused by the shape of their nose, our physicians can also straighten the wall that runs along the middle of the nose (septoplasty), can decrease the size of the contours on the inside of the nose to improve airflow (turbinate reduction), or can even reposition the bones of the nose to help patients breathe more freely (functional rhinoplasty).
Plastic Surgery
Dr. Viner was born in Nashville and raised in Connecticut. He attended Wesleyan University and graduated Magna cum Laude with honors in Philosophy. Dr. Viner returned to Nashville to attend Vanderbilt University School of Medicine and he completed his general surgery internship and otolaryngology residency in Ohio at University Hospitals of Cleveland. He received special commendation for service at the prestigious Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital, and he presented papers at conferences in Chicago, Denver, and Nice, France. As a chief resident, he traveled to Lithuania on a surgical mission trip, teaching current otolaryngology and facial plastic surgery techniques. After residency, Dr. Viner returned to Nashville and joined OAT. He is board certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology and maintains memberships in the American Academy of Otolaryngic Allergy and the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery. He has been selected as one of the “Best Doctors in America” and has served as the chief of Otolaryngology at Baptist Hospital. Dr. Viner cares for the broad array of ear, nose, and throat disorders. He is an avid reader, enjoys playing tennis, and treasures time with his wife and three children.
