I had a hair appointment with Rebecca at Íona Salon in Fort Worth on Thursday, October 27th and it was an awesome experience to say the least. This salon focuses on environmentally friendly products and practices as well as natural organic solutions for your hair. They believe that natural is best for healthy hair, and I agree! I am going to document the progress of how my hair evolves from how damaged it is now to healthy and beauty pageant-ready next April! I am convinced that Íona Salon will be able to get my hair looking absolutely stunning by pageant weekend. When I first walked in to the salon, I was welcomed with a warm and friendly smile. The salon has a very earthy vintage feel to it, which goes along with their commitment to stay true to their ideals of authenticity and simplicity with natural practices. I felt right at home and felt that I could trust this salon with taking the best care of my hair. I've had some scary experiences in hair salons in the past, so it was so refreshing to come into a place that cares for the environment as I do AND that understands exactly what I am hoping to accomplish. There's nothing worse than going somewhere for a haircut where you can smell so many chemicals and your hair-dresser can't speak proper English. You do get what you pay for. After being welcomed and situated with a glass of water, Rebecca talked to me about what my goals were with my hair. She asked me how much I style it and what my current hair care regiment was. She then began with an amazing scalp massage, which she explained to me comes with every visit to her salon. WOW! Scalp massages help get more blood flow to the hair follicles to get more nourishment to the newly forming hair... not to mention they feel absolutely wonderful! Rebecca then gave my hair a deep conditioning treatment before trimming all the dead ends off of my hair while explaining to me that your hair will not grow if the ends are split. She stressed the importance of getting hair cuts every six weeks to keep the hair healthy and allow it to grow longer. After trimming my hair, Rebecca decided that she would style my hair to accentuate my natural curls. She introduced me to a really cool natural organic hair product made from marshmallow root that would tame the frizz and bring out the curls. After applying the product, she showed me how to properly use a diffuser on my hair, and voila! It is great to know that I don't have to put tons of chemically-laden mousse in my hair to get a similar but inferior affect. And, this style required very little heat! I've never had a relationship with my hair stylist before, but it sure is nice to have personalized care. We had some very meaningful conversations, and I am really looking forward to going back in December. I will be getting my hair trimmed and conditioned at Íona Salon every six weeks as well as using a high-end shampoo and conditioner that is sulfate free and taking a good B Vitamin supplement to promote hair health. Rebecca also recommended that I not wash my hair every day. She explained how the natural oils from your scalp are the best natural conditioning therapy for your hair. I will do my best to follow this, but I have to wash my hair after I work out! :) I am very excited about my partnership with Íona Salon and hope they continue to thrive and grow. This salon is truly a diamond in the rough and definitely "in harmony with nature." Rachael Lynée Burns Miss North Texas International 2012 http://www.missnorthtexas.com

Review for JUSTIN- I am a platinum bleach blonde with long hair and hot pink tips. You can ONLY imagine the kind of damage that can do to your locks. On top of the abuse I do to my mane, I spent 2 weeks at the beach flinting around in the ocean like I was a mermaid. When it was time to return from my fairytale life and come back to Tejas, I took one look in the mirror and realized that my pink had faded almost completely, my blonde was fried and my hair was in complete shambles. I am BEYOND picky about my hair and usually just do it myself (so that I can't wish ill upon others who mess it up) but this was beyond what I could repair. The roots were even like 2" long and I looked like a lot lizard instead of the hot mermaid that I thought I did. It was horrific. So I put on a Rangers cap and called Rock N Roll Hair. Justin was able to get me in immediately. I made the appointment for an ombre 'do. When I got there, he TRIED to run his fingers through my hair... no dice. His eyes were wide and shocked (probably disgusted) at the immense damage I had done. I told him what I wanted and he very kindly and gently said, "no way!" He could read me like a book and could tell that I would be sorely disappointed going from platinum to adding so much brown. He recommended a subtle transition with lowlights and to soften up the blonde. I just took his advice and rolled with it. The mocha didn't take like we had hoped because the bleach on my hair just ate it up. It was so porous. As he was TRYING to brush my hair, it was so damaged (on my account) that it got tangled and lost in his brush. He recommended that we trim the ends to bring it back to a healthy level. I admit, I cried. I have been growing my hair out for 3 years. It has never been this long, but what's the point in having long unhealthy hair?! He was so sweet and so reassuring through the whole process. He calmed me down and made me feel so much better about it. He trimmed my hair and it looked sooooo much better. I went back today (a week later) to add the mocha lowlights and he did such an amazing job! He is such an artist! He is quick and fluid! I was so happy that I gave him a huge hug (totally freaked him out! hahaha) and left with the biggest smile on my face! He also does the BEST blow dry and style. Seriously, Justin is the best. I love him and totally recommend him. I had to sign up for YELP just to recommend him! <3 He's awesome!!! Thanks, Justin, for making me feel pretty again!!!
Extraordinary Looks Salon is THE place to get your hair done in the metroplex! The stylists are incredibly polite and truly understand the value of excellent customer service. This salon isn’t simply a haircut and color. The experience of the owner in make-up, eyelashes, and hair treatments, transform this salon into an all around beauty center. When I first walked in, all I needed done was a cut and color. I wanted to go from highlights to an all over blonde color. The owner, Victoria, then shared her expertise in other hair treatments such as cashmere luminescence and a new Inphenom deep conditioning treatment. I decided to try the deep conditioning treatment and it was the best one I’ve ever had. It left my dyed hair soft and smooth for weeks. The color was just as I imagined and the new nontraditional cutting techniques left my hair looking like a celebrity’s. I was so hooked that I also decided to get my eyelash extensions here. Again, the standards Victoria holds herself to, are impeccable. She worked on my lashes until every single one was perfect. So, if you want to feel like a celebrity, Extraordinary Looks Salon is the place for you. Amanda S.
