My wife and I travel twice a year to Texas and North Carolina. We stay in motels, and we visit restaurants that are local or belong to a chain not located in our hometown. We visited the Bob Evans Restaurant at 5135 Meijer Rd, Fort Wayne, IN, during such a trip. The restaurant looks like a well-lighted coffee shop with a mix of booths and tables. The layout was spacious and clean. There were no rocking chairs or jam for sale. Most servers were wearing Christmas sweaters with their black pants. We were seated quickly and quickly greeted by our waitress, Erika B. She was friendly, polite, and personable. She chatted a little about how we were and how our trip was going, while scanning the room to watch her other customers. Since we only experience Bob Evans Restaurants while traveling, she let us get reacquainted with the menu. I asked her about the Pot Roast Hash Breakfast. She described it and recommended it. I had it and enjoyed it. My wife had the Rise and Shine Breakfast and enjoyed it. Erika kept our drinks filled and checked back after our orders had been delivered. I’d revisit this Bob Evans again if traveling through Fort Wayne. We were checked out quickly, but I appeared to confuse the young cashier. When I use my AARP Credit Card, I always show my military-retired card as proof of identity. My AARP Credit Card says, “See military ID.” The cashier glanced at my ID card and my credit card. She handed my ID card back immediately and stammered, “We don’t give discounts.” I felt embarrassed and explained that I was showing identification.
Their subs are amazing - large portions on pasta & subs. Half-order was enough for me - with leftovers! Cindy's chopped salad is a must. Their house salad is full of a variety of fresh toppings - not just the standard carrots & cheese - but those are on there, too! Again, big portions on even the half salad - enough to share. The portabello fried mushrooms are a better choice than button & the toasted ravolli is good, warm & crunchy, even when delivered. Ask for the southwest dipping sauce. As far as delivery, they seem to have a wider area, yet always deliver faster than promised.
Toscani is my favorite restaurant now. My boyfriend and I went there for dinner a couple months back and was thrilled with the entire experience. The walls are painted beautifully and the staff was so friendly. The owner even offered us a free wine. We ordered the pizza of course and were surprised at how perfect it was. Their pizza is by far the best pizza i've ever had. We went back for lunch a few days later and I tried the lasagna. I will not be doing that again, i'm sticking to what they know best, the pizza! We know go at least once a week and I would recommend it to anyone.
