Best experience at a doctors office I've been to! Staff was friendly, and Dr. Poppell was so kind to me and my boy's, found my new eye care center now that we've moved to the area!

Seriously so impressed with the entire staff. Very clean, professional, and knowledgeable. Dr. Poppell is my doctor and has been for years. Everyone around here knows he, or Dr. Hofmann in his group are the guys to go for when it comes to eye care.

Dr. Poppell performed Lasek Surgery on me. I was nervous in general. I asked co-workers who to use first and they all recommended him after having the same procedure. The procedure had amazing results. Minimal pain, short recovery, and no complications. I followed all post-op instructions very specifically. I highly recommend him.

Dr Poppell is the worst choice of all eye surgeons. He tore the retina in my right eye and I had to have three major surgeries and now I can barely see out of that eye. The retinal surgeon told me that Poppell is the worst cataract doctor he has ever known. He is so bad he makes you agree BEFORE surgery that you cannot sue him before a jury and a judge. Instead, he has a board that will "review" and settle with you. SAVE YOUR EYES, go to another cataract surgeon. AVOID POPPELL. He should lose his license and be forced out of medicine. I will eventually lose vision in my eye and its because of Poppell's poor surgery,.

Very unprofessional. Inattentive surgery caused a tear in my retina. Three major surgeries in an attempt to save my eye. Still having problems and now I may need a corneal transplant~!! I wouldn't let Poppell work on my cat~!! Other eye docs in Fort Walton have told me about other people Poppell has damaged. He even makes you sign a release BEFORE surgery that you will not sue him before a judge and a jury. Instead, he takes you to an arbitration panel to resolve the problem. Who knows where they come from? My advice, go to Destin or Pensacola for your eye work. I suggest you avoid Poppell.

On June 19th 2013, Dr Poppell performed a cataract surgery on my left eye. He tore the vitreous in the left eye causing a deformed pupil. He later blamed the complications on me and that I rubbed my eye the night after the surgery. Two other surgeons’ findings have found the tear occurred during Dr Poppell surgery. My complications are blurred vision, flashes of light, and pain when entering sunlight. Since the surgery, I’ve found many other patients of Dr Poppell experienced compilations. Do not use this eye surgeon.
