Very disappointing experience!...
Very disappointing experience! When I arrived for my first appointment, the gay male medical assistant was gossiping loudly with another male co-worker about the club they had been to the previous night, and all of the guys they had cruised, in intimate detail. Too much information, and not professional for a doctors waiting area. At one point they did close the glass window, probably forgetting that they were at work !!
I went to this doctor for Dysport (similar to Botox) forehead treatment. Since I only knew a little about this "doctor" (former dentist and anesthesiologist, NOT a dermatologist), I asked for less than what the doctor prescribed for smoothing my forehead. He wanted to do 30 units, I asked for 20. Two weeks later, absolutely no results. Went back for follow-up. Doctor was very defensive, saying that I had deep wrinkles, and that he told me I would need up to 63 units on the first visit ! He never told me any such thing. I would never allow a new doctor to inject that amount into my forehead. If he had actually told me I needed 63 units, I would have left. What he actually told me was that 20 units would smooth my forehead, which it did not. He argued with me for 30 minutes, and said that I was obviously asking for a freebie. His "follow up" visits are his chance to sell you more product, when it did not work the first time. Not sure if the product is old or diluted, but it did not work!
He was very defensive for a supposed professional. Remember Dr. A, the customer is always right !! And this customer will never be back! I will go to a certified dermatologist next time......
And I only went here because they are close to my house, and have Saturday hours.....
Never again !!

I am the office manager at Silk Laser + Aesthetics Centre. At Silk, we strive to give impeccable customer service. Dr. Astaphan is a dentist, Maxillofacial surgeon as well as an Anestesiologist. He has been injecting Botox for over 14 yrs and Dysport for the past 2 years, as it is newly FDA approved in this country. As an advanced qualified injector, Dr. Astaphan is very familiar with the reconsitution value of Dysport and the fact that it takes 2 to 2.5 times the amount of units to be equiviliant to Botox. This said, I believe that Dr. Astaphan's education and knowledge allow him to have a better understanding of the usage of these products than someone who has had no previous experience with either product. Any advanced injector, which is not limited to aDermatologist, would know that 20 units of Dysport would have minimal effect on frown lines on a muscular male's forehead. Upon your request, Dr. Astaphan injected only the 20 units. You were advised that you would most likely need more at your 2 week follow up visit which was today. This is also documented in your initial evaluation. Medical photographs taken two weeks ago as well as today show mild improvement consistent with the fact that he told you that you would need more than 20 units. While we strive to make all our patients' experiences positive ones, this did not seem possible in your case.
We wish you good luck with your future treatments at a Dermatologist.
Silk is an equal opportunity employer, and the fact that we employ a gay male front desk receptionist should not offend anyone.
