Gold Coast Car Rental and Cruise & Fly Parking

No Answer to phone upon arrival; No Shuttle to pick me up; Unsecured Facility

Spoke with Gold Coast 7 hours before I was to arrive at the Fort Lauderdale Airport and advised them again I was arriving at 2 AM and wanted to be assured a shuttle would be available at that early in morning. Was told there was 24 hour shuttle service and to call when I reached the baggage area. I CALLED AT 2 AM THE AFTER-HOURS # FOR THE SHUTTLE. CALLED AT LEAST A DOZEN TIMES FROM 2:00 AM - 2:45 AM AND GOT VOICEMAIL! I also tried the main # and got the most ridiculous voicemail message stating that if you are calling after-hours to call the # on the business card. What happens if someone didn't have the business card? Why not just state the after hours #? Thank god I had it but it made absolutely no difference as they never answered. I asked the police out front if perhaps they had an emergency telephone number for Gold Coast and the officer could not find one other than the number I had.

I HAD TO TAKE A TAXI TO GOLD COAST AT 2:45 AM FROM THE AIRPORT AS THERE WAS NO SHUTTLE. NO ONE WAS AT THE GOLD COAST FACILITY AT AROUND 3AM and I wandered around the parking lot to find my car and to see if anyone was there. I also tapped on the windows of the shuttle vans to see if perhaps one of the drivers was sleeping. I am so lucky I had an extra car key on me and that my vehicle wasn't blocked in. IT IS EVIDENT GOLD COAST IS NOT A SECURED PARKING FACILITY. When I mentioned that to them, I was told they never claimed they were. Please take note of that. They are absolutely correct - they aren't. The website does not claim they are a secure facility. I didn't realize that when booking. Think about it, do you really want to leave your car in an area that's not the best in an unsecured lot for any length of time?

I drove my car out of the Gold Coast facility and got home around 4 AM. I called ParkWhiz who I used to make the reservation. They were absolutely wonderful, not just in the ease of booking but also immediately refunded my money. Gold Coast reimbursed my taxi fare.
