Overall
satisfied for years

I have been going to Le Cafe de Paris since the 1970's and have never had a "bad meal". The previous reviewer seems overly critical and unnecessarily so...The meals are not over priced, considering that they come with salad, entree, and dessert (your choice from a covered dessert wagon brought tableside)...Also, the early bird specials come with an appetizer and coffee or tea...Go hungry because there is a lot of food for the buck...The duck a l'orange is excellent, never overcooked, always succulent and served with sauteed mixed veggies and a wonderfully rare wild rice. Beef Wellington hits the mark, just don't order it medium well or well, but slightly rare as all filets should be cooked.

I have eaten in Paris and found the food here to be as good as there, if not better. In fact, French Onion soup is nowhere to be found in Paris, and is an American/Francais exclusive. Let me not forget the excellent escargot, served piping hot and garlicky as well as numerous other delectable ppetizers. The coquille St. Jacques could be a meal in itself, with creamy sauce, scallops and shrimp. But don't fill up on the appetizers when dinner is on the way.

Fish dishes are exceptionally prepared, especially Snapper Louisianne, with artichokes, capers and a lemony sauce. Dover sole is brought in from England and is always prepared nicely. I could describe more, as I have tried almost everything on the menu...but go see for yourself.

It would be a rare exception if you come out disappointed. Bon Appetit.

Overall
overpriced unimaginative and pretentious

I like french food as much as the next person. However Le Cafe de Paris disappoints on all levels. Food is adequate and way overpriced. Service is ridiculously cloying and over-attentive. The coquilles de saint jacques was greasy and boring. The fois gras is greasy and boring. C'est domage!
