​The mission of Flagstaff Hypnotherapy is to give the client the tools to use the power of their mind to live the life they want to live. Flagstaff Hypnotherapy opened in 2007 by Don Berlyn, PT, Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist. Client issues generally fit into the following areas: Stress and Anxiety, generalized or specific (e.g. public speaking, test taking, meeting people, crowds, various types of performance, travel) Phobias loosely fit under this category. Medical, Dental, Pain, Health or Insomnia Changing Habits, exchanging undesirable ones for desirable ones, often tobacco, healthy eating, exercise, procrastination. Improving Performance in School, Career, Sports and Creative Arts Gaining Control over Emotions ​Having a more Peaceful, Comfortable and Natural Childbirth ​Although the practice is named Flagstaff Hypnotherapy, hypnosis is only one of the techniques utilized to assist clients in achieving their goals. Other techniques include a variety of visualization, breathing, focused attention, analysis and practical recommendations. The course of the client and Don working together can be as brief as one session working on a single well defined goal or over an extended period of time addressing multiple issues as they come up and reinforcement as specific challenges present themselves. The longer term relationships can be like "life coaching" and are conducted with office visits and by phone, texts or email. Communication outside of the office is free unless specifically arranged as formal session. The first session is typically: an extensive exploration of the client's issue/s, history, goals and blocks, an in-depth explanation of the various techniques available to address the client's goals, mutual development of a plan, including which techniques and suggestions will be utilized, instruction and practice in the selected techniques, then hypnotic trance, review and homework. Clients always leave the first session with easy techniques to use the power of their minds to feel the way they choose. Subsequent appointments are scheduled based on the client's request. In between sessions the client practices techniques, including going into deep relaxation/trance. ​​​
