My wife and I don’t live in Madison, but we do work near the east side. Every time we are in town, we always try to stop someplace new for lunch or dinner. We’re always on the lookout for places that really define what the vibe of Madison is all about. One of the best places we’ve been is The Roman Candle Pizzeria. We have visited all three of their locations and we have now made it one of our destination eateries in the area. Not only is the beer selection awesome, considering I’m not a huge fan of mass produced beers, but the pizzas are, in all honesty, some of the best I’ve ever had. The fact that they use a ton of local ingredients is a big selling point. It’s nice to know not only where your ingredients are from, but almost who made them! The staff is what I would call “original”, always friendly and always outgoing. If I had to pick one thing that defines Roman Candle’s menu it would be the Algo Malo. Or the BBQ chicken pizza. We have been to The Roman Candle on a busy night, and it does get very loud, and we’ve had to wait a while to get a table, especially on a Friday. If you’re planning on dinner there, make sure it’s early, otherwise, you’ll be waiting. The one constant though? The food is always good.
