With pleasure I'm writing this review. My family and I have been Dr. Dowden's patients for over 10 years. We always have been given the best and excellent dental care. His friendly and personable gentle approach with patients has inspired our daughter to want to pursue a career in dentistry. For new patients, initial appointments always include a detailed exam, a professional dental cleaning by our skilled hygienists, and a series of digital x-rays taken of your smile. To better understand your oral health needs, we also review your dental and medical history. These preventive measures provide us with the vital information we need to help protect your teeth and gums from decay, damage, infection, and disease.
Fluoride Treatment
Dental Sealants
Prevention – Helping parents and children establish sound eating and oral care habits reduces the chances of later tooth decay. In addition to providing check ups and dental cleanings, pediatric dentists are also able to apply dental sealants and topical fluoride to young teeth, advise parents on thumb- sucking/pacifier/smoking cessation, and provide good demonstrations of brushing and flossing.
Space Maintainers
Intervention – In some cases, pediatric dentists may discuss the possibility of early oral treatments with parents. In the case of oral injury, malocclusion (bad bite), or bruxism (grinding), space maintainers may be fitted, a nighttime mouth guard may be recommended, or reconstructive surgery may be scheduled.

We will try to replace the tooth in its natural socket. In some cases, the tooth will reattach, but if the inner mechanisms of the teeth are seriously damaged, root canal therapy might be necessary.

With routine cleanings and the deep cleanings of tooth scaling and root planning, a dental hygienist can protect your teeth and prevent tooth loss. An abrasive paste is also used to gently remove tooth stains, and fluoride treatments re-mineralize tooth enamel, shielding teeth from potential cavities.

Roderick “Rusty” Dowden, originally from Plainfield, received his undergraduate degree from Ball State University and his dental degree from Indiana University School of Dentistry in 1994. Among the many awards earned over the years, the one that stands out the most for him has been the Tillman Miller award. He has a special interest in Prosthodontics including implant care for his patients. He has taken several courses that allows the office to provide a higher level of care for his patients including things like same day crowns.

Pediatric dentistry (formerly Pedodontics/Paedodontics) primarily focuses on children from birth through adolescence. The American Dental Association (ADA), recognizes pediatric dentistry as a specialty, and therefore requires dentists to undertake two or three years of additional training after completing a general dentistry degree.
