I went to Pines Bistro & Pizza with my friends during this past Memorial Day weekend, and experienced customer service unlike anything ever before. (In a bad way.)
The pizza was good. So good, in fact, I got back in line to get another piece of pepperoni. The cashier informed me that it would ""be a while"" until my piece would be ready. You'd think a pizza place would have pieces of pepperoni ready to go, but I held my tongue. I paid, and the cashier short-changed me. When I told him that he owed me more money, he gave me an attitude and threw the nickels on the counter (even though my hand was extended, waiting for my change). My friend was behind me in line. He handed the cashier a $20, and the cashier short-changed him, as well.
The cashier informed my friend that his cheese pizza would also be a while. I asked the cashier if it would be quicker to get a piece of cheese, because I'd take either. He answered, ""they'll both be a while."" So I waited. My friend got his piece of cheese, as did 4 - 5 other people. I asked him if I could have cheese, but he told me they were now out.
Minutes passed, and the cashier informed me that they were out of pepperoni. I asked them how they could run out of pepperoni, to which he answered, ""You just ordered it at the wrong time."" Apparently, dinner time is the wrong time to order a slice of pepperoni. Who knew. Finally, the manager came out and gave me a piece of cheese pizza with cold pepperoni slices on top. Yum.
By this point, my Diet Coke was empty. I asked for the cashier to top off my Diet Coke, and he did so very quickly. But when I turned around to walk back to my table, he yelled ""Oops! That's not diet!"" When I went back inside to confront him about his comment, he said he was talking to someone in the kitchen, not me, and he refused to refill my drink. I could have been diabetic!
Needless to say, if I ever return to Fire Island, I will NOT be returning to this place. Unless the cashier is fired.
