Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular
At Oval Lawn at the Esplanade
Considered the nation's premier Fourth celebration, Boston and its Pops put on a bombastic symphony while a massive fireworks display (pictured above) explodes over the Charles River. Best viewing is on the Oval Lawn at the Esplanade in front of the Hatch Shell stage. The concert goes from 8:30-10:30 p.m. Fireworks from 10:30-11 p.m. (There is also a concert on Tuesday, July 3, 8:30-10 p.m., but no fireworks). To avoid the parking nightmare, take the T.

Bristol Harbor Fourth of July Celebration
At Bristol Harbor
Since 1785, the city of Bristol, R.I., has hosted the oldest continuous Fourth of July celebration in the country. On Tuesday, July 3, fireworks boom over Bristol Harbor starting at 9:30 p.m. Concert starts at 6:30 p.m. Admission is free. Parade on Wednesday, July 4 at 10:30 a.m.

Philadelphia's annual Wawa Welcome America festival celebrates the birthplace of the nation with a 10-day affair starting June 25 through the grand finale July 4, 7-11 p.m.: The Roots headline "The Largest Free Concert in America," along with Queen Latifah, Daryl Hall, Common, Joe Jonas and more on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway. Fireworks follow over the Philadelphia Museum of Art.

Fourth of July on the National Mall
At the National Mall
Monuments from the formation of America play backdrop to an incredible fireworks display launched from the Lincoln Memorial pool. The show starts at dark, around 9:15 p.m. Best viewing spots are East Potomac Park, the Lincoln or Jefferson Memorials, or near the National Mall along 14th Street.
Fireworks can also be seen from the U.S. Capitol, Roosevelt Memorial, White House Ellipse, West Potomac Park, Anacostia Park, the U.S. Marine Corps War Memorial and the George Washington Memorial Parkway on the Virginia side across the Potomac.
