We dropped off a Dyson DC14 for a Non warranty repair….After years of service we needed to get the vacuum looked at. The store provided us with a quote of $95.00 to replace the belt and clutch assembly. After them having the unit for about 1 ½ weeks I received a call after 5pm one night claiming that they need an additional $30.00 to clean the brush assembly so they could proceed. They indicated that the brush had a buildup of hair. I agreed it probably did, but I asked why is going to cost another $30.00 to clean the part when you already have to remove it to replace the belt and clutch assembly. I was told it just needs to be cleaned. Again I asked that if the part has already been removed, how does it cost $30.00 to run a razor blade along the hair and cut it off. I told them that I could not justify another $30.00 for a few minutes of work. We are talking about increasing the price of the repair almost a 1/3 of the price. I am all for supporting small business but the part HAD to be removed to make the original repair. They said that they would repair the unit and not remove the hair. Well they honored that and gave the Vacuum back with the belt installed over the hair. My wife picked up the unit and brings it home informing me that they said the Filter is missing that sits next to the motor….THE FILTER WAS ON THE MACHINE WHEN I DROPPED IT OFF ! I believe that they miss placed the filter or they are mad that I refused the $30.00 upsell to clean the brush assembly that they had to remove to replace the belt. I honestly cannot recommend the store based off of my experience.
