My boyfriend took me here last week and it was simply wonderful! I m very tough on Italian restaurants being Italian myself but have to say it was really authentic. They have a full menu thats always there and a city menu that changes every week. We went for the Chianti week...had the wild boar lasagna...really amazing....my boyfriend ordered cacciucco seafood stew off menu....then desserts were off the charts....this place also has the best wine list in the area....so many wines by t...view morehe glass...I had the riserve Chianti, my boyfriend barbera......atmosphere and service were romantic and professional respectively.view less
This restaurant is beautiful...looks like a Tuscan Villa! As a native Italian I can tell you I was very impressed. The menu changes each week based on a different city in Italy..the night I went it was the city of Bolzano. I was just in this city this past summer & the dishes were right on. I had the Canederli gnocchi which were stuffed with speck & grana padano cheese & they transported me back to Northern Italy. My date had the Branzino off the regular menu & it was outstanding. My husband and I decided to try this place. It always looked so lovely lit up at night (lots and lots of lights) and after all, it's italian, right?! Well, we walked in the front door at 5 PM on a Friday and the owner didn't even make eye contact with either of us (let alone making an effort to welcome us) - Indeed my husband I both noted that we had the feeling we were interrupting something between the short, lampoonish, shifty-eyed owner and the 2 young, uncomfortable-looking hostes...view moreses we encountered upon entering.
I have to laugh now thinking back ....the LARGE wine menu was presented ON TOP of the food menu. ""Here! Drink up so your taste buds are dulled to the food taste and to help with your stomach cramps later""...Too bad for us that we came to eat - not to get drunk .
And throughout my meal, this goofy- looking owner could be seen schmoozing with his suppliers - right in the middle of my view across the room.
The food? For sure, nothing to write home about....I ordered skewered shrimp from the ""grill"" section of the menu, which I know now that I SHOULD NOT HAVE EATEN as I was up all night with severe gas pains from the shrimp being not fully cooked! I almost woke my husband to take me to the hospital- I was in that much pain.
Felicia, our waitress, was the one bright spot in our experience. She was attentive, personable and sweet. But, even she is not enough reason to come back. The one star I have given is for her and her alone. Never, ever again... We will definitely not be coming back to help pay for the electric lighting bill.view less
Went here after Parx & was amazed at how delicious the food is. They have a regular menu as well as a new menu every week which has food & wine from different regions of Italy. Really nice wine list & dessert selection also. Problem is its packed. better on weekdays without the long wait.
We had high hopes for this place due to the decent reviews, however once we sat down we were shocked to see management yelling, berating and belittling their waitresses. I was embarrassed and totally uncomfortable with what I saw. And let me add, what the waitress was being yelled at for was nothing. It was completely unproffessional. If there's an issue with an employee, you should take them in back and speak with them, not do it in the middle of the restaurant.\r

We planned a nice family evening with our newborn baby. The reservation time did not matter and we had to wait over an hour to be seated. When I asked how much longer we have to wait the hostest snapped and said I can take it up with the manager. When finally we were seated they acted annoyed because we had a baby and it was an inconvinience. The weiter could not answer questions about the dishes. The icing on the cake was when a customer threw up all over my husband's back and jacket!...view more!! The manager was incredibly rude and told us it was not his problem. The person who threw up on my husband offered $50 toward the dry cleaning and the manager just took it and put it towards out bill. The manager never appologized and actually yelled at us ! He made us feel very uncomfortable and did not try to fix the situation! He imidiatly made the waiter bring us a check and did not even give us a chance to finish our dinner!!! It was very unpleasant and I will never set my foot back at this place again! The owner treated us as we did not matter and one less customer was not a problem for his business!view less
My boyfriend and I visited Toscana 52 by accident after coming from Parx Casino. We thought we were going to a Mexican restaurant because of the exterior of the building. We never read the sign. Go figure. When we went inside, I said ""This looks like an Italian restaurant"". Low and behold, it was! Great. Even better. The ambiance was wonderful. I was upset that we didn't come with a larger party because I wanted to sit at the v.i.p. center table (IT GLOWS : ) ) Our entres came out an...view mored were plated well and piping hot. The flavors blended well although I favor my food saltier than how it was presented. The only reason they only received 4 stars was because our waitress did not present us with any of the specials. She was new. We over heard the waitress at the table next to us and said to ourselves ""Darn it, had we known those were the specials, we would have ordered that instead"". Our waitress still bust her behind and gave us great service. For that she still recieved a great tip. I'll just bring a little baggie of Lawry's seasoning salt for my food and ask for the seasoned staff next time. lol. Just kidding.view less
We try to go at least 1-2 times per month. Food is great, and you can go cheap (basic ravioli or spaghetti for ten bucks), or surf & turf or special menu item.
Rest assured that the price does NOT affect the taste of the food, it's great...and on the VERY rare occasion the food is not up to snuff (it happens everywhere)....the management is quick to fairly compensate without question.
I love that the city theme changes week to week, and strongly recommend coming here no matter w...view morehat your price range is...because you will find something that will fit the range and maintain the quality.view less
