Oral Cancer Screening
Preventive care plays a significant role in all of our treatments. Whenever you schedule an appointment with us, Dr. Ruff will perform an oral cancer screening, a periodontal evaluation, and decay screening. If she sees any problems, Dr. Ruff will discuss some of our preventive care solutions.
You know that smooth, clean feeling we all love after a trip to the dentist? That’s the way your teeth feel without plaque and tartar -- and we want you to enjoy that sensation all the time. A dental cleaning is an important step in preventive dental care, and we usually recommend that patients of all ages have a hygiene appointment at least every six months. Why are dental cleanings so important? Let’s take a closer look at what happens during this preventive appointment.
Fluoride Treatment
For decades, scientists and dentists alike have known that regular exposure to fluoride drastically reduces a person’s risk for cavities over time, which is why you’ll so often find it added to oral healthcare products and public water sources. To give our patients a little extra cavity protection, we can provide a topical fluoride treatment during routine appointments. It only takes a minute, is completely painless, and it’s one of the easiest ways to keep a smile healthy year after year.
Dental Sealants
The teeth towards the back of the mouth (known as the molars and premolars) are the most vulnerable to developing cavities due to their wide and pitted surfaces that easily trap plaque and bacteria. This also makes them quite tricky to clean, especially for little hands who are still learning to brush. With a dental sealant, however, we can place a thin, clear barrier over these teeth to keep them protected. We simply paint on a liquid, plastic-based substance, and it quickly hardens into place, keeping the teeth safe from decay for years to come.
Dr. Ruff can correct your cavities with tooth-colored fillings. These are made from a composite resin which blends in with the surrounding tooth structure. With a tooth-colored filling, you won’t be able to tell where your tooth was damaged. It is even possible to upgrade your old amalgam fillings with the more natural, aesthetic tooth-colored type.
Resin Composite
Forget the days when having a cavity restored meant leaving the dentist’s office with a noticeable silver spot in your mouth. Tooth-colored fillings from your dentist in Fayetteville are an aesthetic and biocompatible alternative to silver dental work. Dr. Ruff uses white composite resin to restore existing cavities, repair minor damage, and replace old gray fillings. Learn more about this popular cosmetic option today.
Veneers
How do celebrities in Hollywood look so good all the time? They have help. Lots of help. Fashion consultants, make-up artists, and hair stylists create just the right look for any occasion. There is one accessory, however, that goes to every event—a smile. For this, the stars often turn to a cosmetic dentist. But these artistic dental professionals are not just in Hollywood. Here in Fayetteville, NC, cosmetic dentist Dr. Angela Ruff gives her patients Academy Award-winning smiles with porcelain veneers made by Hollywood's own "lab to the stars."
Crowns
When you look at your smile, what do you notice first? Your teeth or your gums? If you answered your gums, then you may have what is called a gummy smile or excessive gingival display. too much gum tissue can detract from the beauty of your smile. Fortunately, Dr. Angela Ruff can help you achieve a well-balanced smile with aesthetic crown lengthening which gently removes the excess gum tissue.
Bridges
When repairing teeth that show prominently in the smile, we won’t simply apply a gold or silver crown and call it a day. To preserve a person’s appearance, we can now create strong and durable crowns and bridges from 100% dental porcelain. This material can be shaped and shaded to mimic natural enamel in almost every way, even down to its slight translucency. With it, Dr. Ruff can create a restoration so lifelike, even
Dental Bonding
The same material used in tooth colored fillings can also be used to repair minor cosmetic imperfections in just one visit to the dentist’s office. Known as cosmetic bonding, it is a fast, affordable alternative to lengthy cosmetic procedures. There is no need for anesthesia with the painless procedure. Minor chips, small gaps, discoloration, and short or stubby teeth are artfully enhanced with the customizable composite resin.

Root Canal Therapy is necessary when the nerve of the tooth has been damaged by either tooth decay or trauma. In many cases a tooth can be saved rather than extracted if a successful root canal therapy can be completed in time. In spite of the negative reputation, this procedure should be comfortable and cause you to have relief of the pain you have been suffering from the infected tooth. Many patients choose to also use laughing gas or sedation to help with their anxiety. Please look at the following patient reviews to see what their experience has been.
“I was taken by surprise how the gingivectomy was completed within an hour and without my knowledge or pain. The improved look was very pleasing to me. The absence of pain throughout the remainder of the day allowed me to attend my first yoga class on schedule. Once again professionalism at the stellar level I've become accustomed to at Ascot Aesthetics Dentistry!”
Deep Cleaning
The most common dental problem in the world, affecting about 50% of the adult population in the US alone! This infection can cause red, swollen, and tender gums that bleed often, and left untreated, it can even lead to tooth loss. At our practice, we screen the gums whenever a patient comes to see us, and if we spot a problem, we can use a deep cleaning and targeted antibiotic therapy to take care of it right away.

If you need to undergo oral surgery before getting dentures in Fayetteville, you’ll likely experience some discomfort afterward. Fortunately, it’s temporary and easily manageable by diligently following your aftercare instructions. Make sure you take your prescribed medication as directed and use a cold compress to reduce inflammation. It can take upwards of several months to adjust to your new oral appliance. Should the pain persist, contact our team for help. You may need a readjustment or there might be an underlying oral health issue that needs to be addressed.
Tooth Extractions
Dr. Ruff also offers several sedation dentistry options, including laughing gas, to help you stay relaxed during your tooth extraction.
Bone Grafting
Generally speaking, the most basic requirement for getting dental implants is to be a healthy adult who needs at least one tooth replaced. Implant placement is a surgery, so any medical conditions that could interfere with your ability to recover from such a procedure will have to be addressed. Also, gum disease and cavities must be treated first; otherwise they could cause the implants to fail. Finally, we’ll have to confirm that your jaw is strong enough to support the implants; if it isn’t, bone grafting is usually an option.
With our professional options, you’ll get great results that help you feel confident in your smile again. In fact, studies indicate that people with whiter smiles are thought to be friendlier, more successful, and even smarter than people with dull teeth. Why not give yourself the advantage of a healthy, white smile with a professional whitening treatment? If you’d like to get started, call us today to schedule an appointment!
