LA Fitness

I've been a member in Evanston for a year or two. I go strictly for the weights (free weights and machines) and cardio machines. The quality and quantity of equipment is pretty good, but there are a few serious problems:



(1) They threw away almost all of their 2.5 lb free weights six months ago, due to a defect, and have NEVER replaced them. I have spoken to several managers at the club, and called the LA Fitness help line, but have gotten nothing except promises and excuses.



(2) The free weights area is a mess; dumbbells and free weights scattered all over the gym, and no staff member ever encourages users to put them back where they belong, in the right order. Management allows users to stack multiple 45 lb. weights on the floor under an incline sit-up board, and just leave them there. Not only is this unfair to other people who might need to use them, but several of these weights are now stuck together, and no longer useable at all. Management also allows people to use an Olympic bar for t-bar rows, by sticking it into a corner of the wall, thus damaging both the wall and the bar. This is totally unnecessary, since there are already a t-bar and and incline t-bar machines in that room.



(3) The club is running very low on safety clips for the free-weights area. These problems show me that management doesn't care enough about the safety and convenience of their customers, and I hope that they notice this comment and decide to take some action
