Be prepared for for a $100 non refundable service fee for new OR transferred service. I just confirmed this with the First Utility Disctrict-Carter. The fee applies to renters and homeowners. The fee is not a deposit against possible loss protection for poor payment history. When asked why the connection fee is so high, I was told that I should compare water charges in other Carter County districts. "we're lucky that we have it so good." If your water is turned off for any reason, there is a $100 non refundable service fee to be reconnected. I live in Lynn Valley and I can't count the number of times First Utility has interrupted service for hours at a time, with and without notice, to patch their lines. This is a publicly held company and we have a right to speak out. On the 3rd Tuesday of every month, the water board meets. It is an open meeting and I was told if we want to see a change we need to speak out and attend the meetings in mass. This February 19th I will be at the meeting.
