Overall

Easily the best pain management doctor in the Puget Sound area, Dr. Baumeister routinely lands on every rating publication I've seen. You won't find a better doctor to document and administer your long-term injury/chronic health issue. I've been going to him for 14 years now. I find his wife charming, but I could see how some might find her a little over-bearing. But let's be clear, any such behavior is grounded in compassion for the patient and a desire to ensure that everything is done the right way. Any one who complains about that is looking for something other than pain management..... they're looking to get high.

I wish I could give a rating l...

I wish I could give a rating lower than 1 star. I was diagnosed with a brain aneurysm wich causes very painful migrains and a shoulder requiring surgery. I got a referal to see a pain specialist. Unfortunately I picked Dr Baumeister. I saw him 2 weeks prior to surgery and he prescribed some pain medication. My regular agreed I should up it because my shoulder was getting worse. I called his office as was treated very poorly by the receptionist who is nosey and very rude and unprofessiona. The Dr promised to manage my pain after my sugery. I called the day after surgery and was told he would not treat me. So I am stuck 2 weeks after with nothing to help with the pain. It takes weeks and sometimes months to get in to see another one. So if you really need pain managment run from this quack. You will regret it. I called the Dr to ask why and he hung up on me. Please find a better doctor.

Overall
Dr. B has been such an advocate, etc. in my life

I usually don't care to do this sort of thing, but feel completely compelled to do so in response to whomever thus "so called physician/Dr." Who's whole intent seems to slaughter Dr Baumeister along with his office staffs integrity. I myself became his pt. In very early 09' after finally having medical insurance to seek out proper treatment, prior the Dr's either pushed meds or the other end of the spectrum, implying I may have an alterior motive, neither were beneficial. My problem amplified over the years by being under medicated, not being truly heard, hurried office visits, Dr's not reviewing my records thoroughly to see my diagnosis' what I'd already tried, etc. But Dr. Baumeister truly seemed to review my records ling before my first appt, he actually spike to me, not at me, patiently explaining my options. He does require you to not only rely in pharmacology, but explore MANY other treatments to be used in conjunction, a multi level approach, so you have more available to compliment medication or possibly be able to eventually replace it all together. Yes, his ofc has a much mire personal touch and you know after being treated like a number or that you're in an assembly line, It's nice to be treated as a human being. They monitor your meds, require the state mandated drug screens, etc. But ultimately It's about trust, compassion, integrity, etc. Which is hard with how many hurdles the State, Government etc. Require because of the "problem patients" who've made it hard for true chronic pain patients and Dr's who advocate for the patients he's built long standing relationships with patients, their families etc. It just makes me mad that I can only speculate that a disgruntled past patient who didn't get what they demanded or didn't follow the agreement they signed and were had to let go have some sort if vendetta against him. What Dr. Makes himself available 24/7 for his patients in case of medication problems etc. He and his staff are true/genuine and compassionate professional people who truly care about their patients, not the bottom line, the almighty dollar. Again, I have the utmost respect for Dr. B and his Staff, thus coming from a person who's worked in the field dealing with many many kinds of them.
