Wisdom begins with wonder. ~ Socrates
I believe children are a blessing from God and often receive less credit than they deserve. Children have powerful little ears that are always listening and inquisitive little eyes that miss very little. It is a miracle to see such young children scurry around like busy scientists studying the ever growing world that surrounds them. The joy and information being absorbed from merely holding a leaf or watching an ant marching by is nothing short of astounding. While at a glance, it can be easy to mistake these ongoing scientific experiments for just making a mess, being hyper, or getting into things, I am inclined to disagree. Remove the variable of danger and the perfect formula for awesome discoveries remain! Childhood is a beautiful time in life that is almost gone before it can be mastered and I believe it is possible that is a portion of its beauty. A typical day at Playtime University will follow the routine listed on this website, however, I want to be sure parents to understand while I do agree academics are vital to a childs future and we will be practicing daily, I believe I am more adept in helping to influence a love for learning rather than astonishing parents with how fast their child is learning reading, writing, and arithmetic before pre-school. Many of my fond childhood memories are very simple but they almost all revolve around the various new experiences I encountered, of course only much later did I realize the detailed little scientific experiments I was actually conducting. I think it is interesting that children learn about the scientific method around fifth grade, however, in a less rigid manner this is almost instinct as a toddler. These early years create the foundation for the future and as adults we know the balance of life is constantly teetering. Some of the earliest lessons I feel a child should learn through watching the examples set forth by the adults who love them is to: Always search out what is positive in any situation. Treat others kindly because kindness is infectious. And, quality time creates strong positive memories that may be cherished forever.
