        Deborah Skruch, of OCSpeechhelp, is able to flexibly evaluate students with mild to complex communication disorders including speech and language disorders, autism, Down's syndrome, and other developmental disorders that significantly impact verbal communication, speech, language processing, social development and comprehension. She provides parents with meaningful information about the degree of communication competence their child has (and sensitively use this information to guide families in the development of competent communication and social communication goals). Ms. Skruch treats clients who have English as a second or even third language. Additionally, she has been able to guide parents in obtaining diagnoses for rare genetic conditions (based upon the presenting speech and communication disorders). Her evaluation is based upon clinical observations, parent interview, structured play activities, and formal testing when appropriate. Ms. Skruch flexibly utilizes iPad apps, varied software programs, and creative toys (engineered for students with limited communication and motor skills).

        Debbie provided several months of private speech therapy lessons for our six-year-old daughter who was unable to pronounce "R". We are thrilled with what she accomplished for our daughter. Before beginning therapy, we had never heard our daughter say "R" properly; it seemed she was incapable of it. By the end of the sessions, our daughter could pronounce any word with ease. Debbie brought enthusiasm, creativity, and motivational ideas to each lesson. She also provided concrete exercises for us to practice at home. I was always impressed at the breadth of her knowledge and at her passion for her field. Debbie coordinated with other professionals, did individual research, and put together a unique learning plan to help our daughter master the needed skills. Always positive and encouraging, she also managed to make learning fun; our daughter looked forward to every lesson. I highly recommend Debbie to everyone.
