- The first Johnnie s Charcoal Broiler was opened in 1971 in Oklahoma City. Today, it is a chain of nearly eleven restaurants that are owned by David and Rick Haynes. It serves more than 30,000 burgers each week. The restaurant s menu includes a variety of sandwiches, salads, sides, soups, steaks and desserts. Johnnie s Charcoal Broiler additionally offers a special children s menu that includes breaded chicken strips, grilled cheese sandwiches and junior burgers. It operates a club that provides information related to special offers and events to members. I have been eating at Johnnie's for decades. There is no place like it. Their food is always consistently good and you won't be disspointed.
Like most local restaurants, Johnnie's provides you a better quality of food than the chain stores.
#13 (frankfurter w/ chili and chees) is my favorite!
Johnnie's is an Oklahoma City classic, serving up the best charcoal-cooked hamburgers in the area. It's such an OKC mainstay, it was repeatedly referenced in the recent TNT series set in OKC, "Saving Grace." Johnnie's has a variety of burgers, from the basic lettuce, tomato to those topped with shredded cheese, Johnnie's special sauce, Caesar salad and more. Don't miss the onion rings or fries.
