Dr. Xie then served as a visiting physician in pediatrics and pharmacology at the Yale University School of Medicine. He went on to complete a three-year postdoctoral fellowship in pharmacology at the Weill Cornell College of Cornell University, where he subsequently spent three years as a research scientist. He later completed a four-year anatomic and clinical pathology residency at the Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow, New York, followed by a gastrointestinal and liver pathology fellowship at the Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York City, and a cytopathology fellowship at the University of Minnesota Medical School in Minneapolis.
