In the Dyersburg area, there are several places of business just like this one. There are some differences though that, in my opinion, distinguishes Tennessee Check Advance from the others....but not in a good way. One, for example, if you are on SSI or SSA you receive your check(s) at the beginning of every month. That qualifies you to be able to wait a whole month before you have to go pick up and/or rewrite your check. Let's say that you just happen to have the money a week or so before the usual day you write your check and you are in town. So, in order to save time and gas money, you decide to pick up and/or rewrite your check then. Well, that will kind of screw you because they will not keep your "payment" on the 3rd or whatever. It will be due the following month on the date you wrote it on. So, if you don't plan to have the money at the same time the following month, you're in a bad situation. They refuse to work with you on pretty much any situation you have...such as an illness, your child being ill, having no way of getting there to make the payment because of circumstances beyond your control. The other check cashing places in Dyersburg are filled will extremely friendly employees who treat you like a friend, not just a customer or stranger. Also, recently, they had relocated since last month when my husband and I were there picking up and rewriting our check. I made a special trip all the way to where I thought they were still located only to find a locked door and a print out of new hours stating that the location would be closed on Wednesdays and Sundays. The print out did not have "Tn Check Advance" or any other business name printed on it. So, I assumed they just had put into place new hours and I returned home. I called the next day to tell them that I was just there the previous day to pick up and rewrite. That's when I was informed for the very first time that they had moved to a new location. I told them of making a special trip there and that there was no "We've Moved" notification on the door or window. All they had to say to me is that I had to come in the following day or they would be depositing my check. Once again, they were not willing to work with me. Even though if they had been responsible enough to put up notification that the business had moved, we wouldn't be in this situation. Because of all this, our checking account is now overdrawn and no one even offered an "I'm sorry." As for the atmosphere of the location they were previously in business, it was a run down single wide mobile home. There was a musty scent that hit you in the face as soon as you opened the door to go inside. Their computers were almost always down. There was no seating for customers who were in line. Heck, there was no space for there to be more than 3 people in the trailor at a time (not counting the staff). It was always hot inside. I saw no evidence of security cameras or any other security measures there to protect the workers or customers. All in all, it was never a good experience going there and if I didn't have to, I never would have. I do not recommend this business to anyone.
