I closed my acct. today. First, don't ever think you're paying bills using your checking account that DFCU will debit for you as you designate those payee funds. They don't.

Instead their registry keeps the money tallied as your available balance. It doesn't deduct the payments you've debited to a payee. Not until that check is cashed. They don't set the funds aside. So you can't go by their registry tally. And why is that? Because it makes them $30.00 per overdraft fee after you think you're using those funds you still have in your account after writing checks to payees. When in truth that tally of checks IS NOT in your available balance tally.

In other words, you're suppose to keep a hand written ledger in order to pay people and know your true balance.



I telephoned member services last week. A woman there said I can put a block on my account so that no transactions occur if I don't have the funds.

She lied! There is no such thing available. DFCU is a rip off. They lie.

Worst customer service in banking

I have never before experienced worse customer service. Treated well in-location, but employees positively WILL NOT answer their telephones when you call. Was told loan application decision would arrive in ""2 to 3 hours"" and one week later, still nothing. This cost me the automobile I was attempting to purchase. Stay as far away from this circus of a business unless you really don't mind waiting for days to receive notification of loan status; if you need to get in touch with them via telephone, I would suggest carrier pigeon - I guarantee you'll hear back faster that way. Dreadful place, dreadful customer service, dreadful employees. Would give negative star rating if possible.
