The Des Plaines Police Department provides fire suppression, prevention and emergency medical services to protect residents, properties and the environment. The department operates fire stations and a fleet of fire engines. It has an emergency management agency that responds to 911 calls and controls cable override systems to notify residents of emergencies through television sets. The Des Plaines Police Department performs fire safety inspections in commercial, institutional and multifamily residential dwellings.
