General Info: The Health Facilities Division is a part of the Iowa Department of Inspections and Appeals. The division inspects, licenses and certifies more than 4,000 health care providers and suppliers under the Medicare and Medicaid programs. It operates a survey team that conducts on-site inspections at various health care facilities to assess the quality of services. The Health Facilities Division is responsible for initiating corrective actions to assure facilities compliance with the state and federal rules. It also offers Insight, which is an online newsletter for health care providers and consumers. The division serves hospitals, hospice care facilities and rural health clinics in the State of Iowa.
