Coming from a NY Italian family, I'm pretty judgmental of Italian fare. Shells and Sauce really delivers! Of the four dishes our table ordered, not one was disappointing. We'll definitely be back.

Shells and Sauce is to die for and I almost did. Food made me vomit and vomit. I should have known when the food came with hair in it and cold...that I was in for a bad dinning experience. Moreover, I ran into an old friend who told me they also got really sick after eating at Shells and Sauce. BEWARE!!! Avoid this place. Service was also a miss.

After taking a tour at the Botanical Gardens, my husband and family stopped by after reading a review on Shells and Sauce. Let me tell you that was some of the best food Italian Food I've ever had. I had the stuffed shells and you might as well say my taste buds had a foodgasm! Great staff, and the clientele where all super friendly. I can't wait until I return to Denver, I know where I am eating~ Open a Shells and Sauce in Columbus Ohio, please. :)

I made reservations for 6:30 on a Friday evening and when I arrived with my party we were seated upstairs right away. The servers were friendly and attentive and we received our appetizer as well as our entrees promptly. The only complaint that I have is that the place just smelled funky. At first I thought it was me but the people I was with also agreed. The best way to describe it is to say that it smelled like a dirty diaper. However, the smell would leave just a quickly as it came so it was hard to pinpoint where it was coming from. I inquired with the server but they didn't seem to know what I was talking about. I'll give this place another shot because the food is good and I hope the next time I'm there that it smells better.

Great place for a good meal and some conversation! Especially on the rooftop deck in the summer where you are up in the ""trees"" looking out the windows up there. Nice place to take a date....... Reasonably priced and great service. Especially from that handsome Dino, fantastic waiter!

I really enjoyed this place. The food was great, same with the service and the atmosphere.

This is the closest thing to an East Coast Italian restaurant in Denver. Reminds me of home - fabo!

They have very interesting, unique dishes (pasta with spicy tomato sauce and blackened chicken, stuffed shells with butternut squash) and fabulous desserts. The red velvet cake is a must try. Another great feature is the bread with olive oil dip. The olive oil has balsamic, herbs and garlic and is good enough to drink. Prices are also extremely reasonable. I find myself going back again and again, and I have yet to take someone here who does not love it.

I LOVE this place. The gnocci is amazing and I actually crave it quite regularly and have to go back often to induldge! The calamari is amazing as is the homemade bread. This has become my favorite restaurant and I'm so glad that they're open! Also they recently added a rooftop patio that is absolutely gorgeous!!!!!

My girlfriend and I with another dining couple went to Shells and Sauce on a wednesday night. It was slow and service was mediocre at best. The food was not really good for Italian and I thought Italian food was easy to make. Well these guys do Italian food really bad. I mean REALLY BAD. My girlfriend works at Strings as a server and she knows pasta and wine. The server recommended a big cabarnet sauv for our first course that was $30+. It didn't go well with our apps. We placed our order for dinner and my steak came out over cooked. I asked to have it re-made which he did no problem. When it returned it was over cooked again. I brought it to his attention again and said that didn't want anything else. When he brought the check the steak was still on the bill. I asked why should I pay for a meal that not only did I not eat but they couldn't cook it right. The so-called owner came to the table and appologized for the error. I gave the server my credit card and they ran my credit card for the amount before the steak was taken off the bill. I did not relize this until later when I got home. The next day I called the restaurant and asked for the owner who had talked to me the day before. Whoever had talked to me wednesday night was not an owner and according to the girl on the phone, he doesn't even work there. WHO THE HELL IS RUNNING THIS PLACE!!! When I finally did talk to somebody important about my credit card, he was rude and just un-proffesional.\r \r What ever you do, if you decide to go to Shells and Sauce, don't order a steak, wine or pay with a credit card.

I've eaten at Shells and Sauce several times and it have never disappointed. Too often I feel like people only write reviews when something negative happens or when they aren't satisfied. I would recommend to anyone who enjoys good Italian food by a locally owned restaurant to give it a least a try. Each time is as wonderful as the first. I highly recomened the lasagna. \r

This was my second time at Shells and Sauce. The first time was delicious and I had a good server. This wasn't the case last weekend. The service was AWFUL. I ordered the carbonara brunch dish and asked to substitute the bacon for portabello mushrooms. I was given ordinary button mushrooms and charged an additional dollar. My asparagus was nearly raw. Not worth it.

We stumbled upon this place about eight months ago. It's been one of our favorite places in Denver - great location, quaint atmosphere, etc. But lately, the service has just gone to hell. Last night probably drove us away forever - they let someone else have our reservation even though we were on time. The older man at the front was just obstinate and rude about it, as though it was our fault. We've had issues with him before, but the food was always worth his somewhat surly ""greeting."" But, unfortunately, last night was the last straw. I hope to read future reviews saying the service has improved. Until then, we'll go back to Portege.

This is my new favorite spot for brunch on the weekends, can't wait to sit on the patio as the weather gets warmer. Love the food, great people, kudos to our waiter Brady he's the best!

Live in the neighboehood and watched it being remodeled and couldn't be happier with the job the owners have done. after being named one of denver's top 20 restaurants under $30 in 5280 we finally made it in and we were not disappointed. the food was wonderful as was the service. we will definitely be back.

I'm so sorry to say we can't recommend Shells and Sauce. We live close by in the neighborhood and were so excited to see the restaurant go in. But my husband and I have a strict ""three strikes' policy about where we spend out dining out dollars, and we will not be going back. Each of the three times we've been there, the service is slow and sloppy: we didn't get menus, it took 10 minutes for anyone to take a drink order and 10 minutes more to actually get the drinks, then we had to flag someone down to take our check. \r \r I'm also sorry to say the food has never lived up to expectations. We have sampled the lasagna which was oversauced and underflavored, the cioppino which was a chunky sauce with overcooked shells, the Italian eggs benedict had bland, tasteless tomatoes and chewy, impossible-to-cut prosciutto, the lobster ravioli was covered in a tasteless too-cheesy sauce, and finally the whole wheat penne with shrimp, was dripping in too much olive oil and overcooked shrimp. And not that it's a deal either: our bill last night with 3 entrees, two salads and two glasses of wine was $69.50: enough to make me regret spending our dining out budget on a completely lackluster meal.\r \r Each time we've come away thinking that we would love to have a wonderful little neighborhood bistro where we could have a glass of wine on the patio and a quick bite to eat. I'm sorry to say Shells and Sauce will not be getting any more of our business. There are many other places nearby that do a much better job for much less money.
