Mile High Mutts

I ve got a routine down now for my visit to Mile High Mutts. My pup Saddie knows what her days will be like when spending time at the doggy day and she s always excited to go.



As we drive toward the daycare, she gets pretty worked up…tail a wagging. I always do a little shopping for her at Mile High Mutts, picking up pig s ears or dog cookies, and that s something she s come to expect too. It s convenient to be able to get dog food here.



Everything in one place and one place for the dog to have a guaranteed good time! I would definitely recommend Mile High Mutts!!!

I'm a fan of Mile High Mutts. I've took my golden retriever to Mile High Mutts for years and learned the importance of structure in a dog's life. I still laugh about the day I showed up after 9 a.m. and was told that Max was too late for school.



I asked, “What, did he miss math class?” The expert at Mile High Mutts explained that dogs, like people, tee up their hierarchy every morning. When a dog comes in late it upsets the social order. The experience underscored how seriously this particular daycare, Mile High Mutts, takes the overall dog experience and does everything they can to establish a calm and safe environment for the dogs, whether they're Monday – Friday dogs or dogs, like mine, that came in 3 days a week. Max has exceeded his expected lifespan by years and now spends his golden (not retriever) years on a big pillow resting and alternatively eating. When he drifts off into sleep and his feet twitch like he's running, I am fairly sure he's dreaming of his days at the Mutt's yard where I am told he would stand guard over the swimming pools doing what Newfies do, saving lives. I continue to refer dog owners to Mile High Mutts.

When I first took my sheepdog to Mile High Mutts it was because I was working incredibly long hours on a project. I was getting home after 9 at night, leaving by 7 a.m. I knew she’d be safer at daycare than left home to her own devices. What I wasn’t counting on was that my dog would make friends. It’s hilarious really. My French Bulldog has made friends with other two other dogs (same breed). The staff at Mile High Mutts says the three of them stick together all day long.

I’ve got to say that it feels a little like I should invite the other dogs over to my house for a play date like my sister does with her kids and the friends they made in preschool.

When my hours are particularly grueling, I always have the option of tuning into streaming video at Mile High Mutts to catch a glimpse of Clarise and her girlfriends on the playground. In 30 seconds of video footage, I get reassurance that Clarise is in the best place she can be during the day…at Mile High Mutts.

I've been a client/customer for almost 7 years and I COMPLETELY TRUST Mile High Mutts with my baby. I've been bringing my dogs to MHM since 9/2006 when I moved to Denver, first to their old location on Larimer, then to Park Hill where they had a small, second location, and now to the nice big space on Chestnut, and truly love this place! I don't know what I'd do without them, and more importantly, my dogs LOVE going! I only have 1 dog right now, a terrier mix I rescued a few years ago, and work long hours a couple of days a week (as an attorney; it goes with the territory). While I have a fully fenced yard and doggie door at home I can tell my little boy still gets a bit lonely/bored during the work week, so I take him to MHM at least 2 days where he can get a break in his routine and some companionship (he actually likes the people better than the dogs and he LOVE LOVE LOVES his Marcus! - he literally gets super-excited when he sees him, runs right over and will not do anything else until he gets some lovin'!). On the rare occasions when he doesn't go at all I can tell (and not in a good way), so I really make an effort to get him there, and on-time so he can become part of the pack early on in the morning. (When I was bringing him in later, because I had worked late the night before and wanted to sleep in, he was having a hard time fitting in with the other dogs - "new kid" syndrome - so getting him there earlier, even though it bums me out, works better for him, the other dogs and the staff.) I also really appreciate the fact that I can pay a small late fee and pick him up before 9p. Most other places close at 7p. There are some days when he comes home smelling a bit like pee (by no means pleasant but not unexpected if you have ever watched dogs interact - he was likely getting a little too close checking out the action!) but easily remedied by wiping him down with a wet towel. I tune-in frequently via the webcam and like watching the staff gently interacting with the dogs and allowing the dogs to play, again gently, amongst themselves. Can you imagine the chaos if the dogs and/or staff really roughhoused and they all got riled up at the same time??? Yikes! And I never thought about this but a vet friend pointed it out - "its conveniently located across the street from the Denver Police Department's vehicle maintenance garage." Huh? I didn't get it. He told me a lot of times kennels/doggie day cares get broken into after hours and dogs get stolen. But not to resell or for breeding, but to use as "bait" for dogfighting.:( He knows firsthand because he's the one who gets to try to stitch them back up afterward. (I didn't want to believe that kind of thing goes on, but sadly it does.) I can't always be with my little D-Man or find a friend to watch him, and everyone is going to have different expectations/experiences, but for almost 7 years MHM has been and continues to be the next best thing.

From a dog owner and a customers viewpoint, I cannot possibly understand any negative review for MHM. The facilities are vast and the Dogs come first. The owner does a great job of hiring genuine Dog lovers who visibly care about their job and their daily visitors. MHM is local versus a national chain, it's friendly and its a safe fun place for our lovable handful of a Dog. They don't zap all her energy, but then neither does a 14'er!

Cannot speak higher of the entire staff here, if they occasionally appear short, i imagine the 100+ dogs they look after on a daily basis does something to their energy levels.
