I've been ordering out from Yummy China for several years with my husband when we're just too tired to cook, don't have time or really want some good chinese. We haven't been disappointed yet with any of the dishes we've ordered. They make a great Egg Fu Yung (not every place does...), I especially like the chicken, their sweet and sour is very crispy, always fresh and really delicious. The Mu Shu has tons of filling and good pancakes, and all the other items we've tried are very good. They send plenty of sauce, don't skimp on the meat, and I don't even remember ever getting an order that was incorrect or missing anything. The delivery is timely and courteous, and when we ask for something to be done in a "special" way, they get it right every time. We do not eat pork or seafood but that's no problem as they have vegetable-only egg rolls available all the time and there is never any "hidden pork or seafood" that we've ever encountered. It's really great food and we love it. This is a well-run family-owned restaurant so we hope you'll enjoy it as much as we do!
We get take out or delivery frequently at Wok Uptown. Service is friendly and helpful but the food is the highlight. The beef dishes are made with steak, chicken is tender, shrimp are nice and plumb and fresh veggies are crispy. I love the Sacha triple delight which has plenty of veggies, chicken, shrimp and beef all in one....served over steamed jasmine rice and that is perfection. The sauce is spicy with lots of flavor. Chicken dumplings are the best in town and my kids are addicted to their crab cheese wontons. My wife loves the Asian Noodle bowls with rice noodles and it is gluten free. She loves Wok Uptown because they are willing to modify any dish since it is cooked to order and offer a lot of gluten free entrees, too. She just had the new Shanghai Bok choy dish and loved it. Wok Uptown Is our favorite Chinese restaurant in downtown Denver because the food is always great and the value surpasses any other place around here. Highly recommended!
If you want pretty authentic Chinese food this is your place. JJ's is a chinese restaurant that specializes in seafood. When you walk in the door there are tanks where the LIVE, obviously fresh crabs, lobsters, fish, eels etc are. And if you can read chinese, the walls have specials written in chinese. Our favorite are crab with ginger & green onion, rockcod with black bean, steamed or fried tilipin, chinese broccili, walnut shrimp, beef chow fun, seafood hot pot. They also have salted fried whole shrimp and other more ethnic foods. We started going to JJ's when they were on Federal Ave and have followed them to their new location. Well worth waiting in the lines especially on holidays when whole families come to dine.
We were not impressed. The people working there were very pleasant, but our orders were brought out piece meal so we were sitting there waiting for different items we had ordered before we could actually start eating. The skimpy parts of the chicken wings were served without the meaty wing parts and no sauce came for them for 5 minutes. Then we had to wait for another 5 minutes for rice to go with our Kung Pao, etc. I may place a take out order in the future when I'm desparately hungry, but I don't think I'll go back for a sit down meal again. I will give it a three star rating because the staff were nice.
I must say.....Wok Uptown cooks Chinese food to perfection. The veggies are fresh and crispy, the meat at superior quality and their sauces seasoned with fresh herbs and spices. After sharing a wonderful meal of Mongolian Beef, Cashew Chicken and Shrimp Lo Mein...my family was happily food-comatosed. Their main repertoire is Chinese cuisine but I know they offer some other dishes like Phad Thai, Singapore Noodles, Drunken Chicken and Teriyaki Chicken. Give them a try!
*Best Sesame Chicken in Town* Best way to go here is to get Take out. Peter makes the best Sesame Chicken in Town. If you don't believe me, ask him, and you will find out how much pride he puts into that dish. Seriously some of the best Chinese food in Denver. Best Sesame Chicken hands down, Best Walnut Shrimp in town, Damn good Lo-mein etc. I've known about this place for more than 20 years and its still just as good as it's always been.
Wok Uptown has been a stable in our family for the last 7 years since we've lived in Downtown Denver. My kids get really excited for their delivery to arrive and they love the sweet & sour chicken and veggie lo mein. I am gluten free so I get the Chicken with Veggies over brown rice. Great family owned Chinese restaurant and I love their diverse menu with plenty of options. Big portions, too!
King's Land Seafood Restaurant is a terrific dim sum parlour as well as an excellent Chinese-Vietnamese dining experience. Unpretentious and just downright delicious. Their specialities are seafood, both ordinary and exotic. Their hotpot dinners are second to none and not to be missed! If you have never tried hotpot (or Singapore Steamboats as they are also known), then you are in for a treat.
This is a great American Chinese hole in the wall to get take out from. The food is tasty and you get a lot of it. They will get your food done in 15 minutes every time, I drive across town to come here once in a while and it's always worth it. Not the top place in Denver but the portions are big and the taste is right. Parking is in rear of building off of Pennsylvania and Colfax.
Great food, great people working there. Kenny is very helpful and nice with his customer service. I love the variety of the menu..from Mongolian Beef to Red Panang Thai Curry to Singapore Noodles. I've tasted most things on their menu for the last 5 years and can't complain about a thing. Wok Uptown offers some of the best Chinese food in Denver...I can attest to that.
