***** 50th Birthday SURPRISE! Recently my husband turned fifty years old, to celebrate this landmark birthday we decided to celebrate by going to Cabela's then enjoy lunch in Cherry Creek, one of our favorite areas. Looking for a special location for lunch I checked review's online and picked 'The Cherry Creek Grill'. What a great pick! Just walking in the door, we were impressed by the ambiance. The staff was welcoming and fun so I shared the information about our special occasion. They helped us select the perfect items assuring memorable occasion. The food was great, fresh, and really tasty. Honestly, I didn't think anything could be better. Just then, our waitress came back to the table and said, "Happy Birthday lunch is on us"! This was so unexpected, I actually started to tear up. The waitress, Robin, looked over at me and said "please don't cry, you'll make me cry", so I jumped up and gave her a hug while thanking her prolifically. We found ourselves walking to the vehicle in a daze talking only about the unique event. I was so stunned, that I completely forgot to tip them, and had run back. LOL! Great time, great food, and a great surprise, the Cherry Creek Grill really delivers!

We decided to eat a late breakfast before going to a play at the nearby Denver Center Theater. After parking, we stumbled upon the Corner Office. At first we waited at the front of the restaurant for someone to notice us for what seemed like 5 minutes. We could see the a young woman between 2 cash registers and also the bartender at the nearby bar, both of whom did a very good job of ignoring us. When finally a host appeared, he asked us if we wanted to sit at the bar--sort of a silly question, since we would already have been eating if we wanted to sit on a bar stool to do so. By coincidence the young woman between the cash registers who ignored our presence was our waitress. We ordered breakfast, which turned out to be fairly good, although a little pricey for what you get. The service (once it materialized) was fast and efficient and our plates arrived hot. The decor and atmosphere are charming. I liked the high ceilings, in particular. If not for the poor introduction, I'd probably have given this place 5 stars.
I'm not a huge fan of sports bars for their own sake but I will say that Sports Column is one of the better places in LoDo to watch a game (...even if you are a Redsox or Cowboys Fan or some other kind of @$$wipe) . They have a ton of wide-screens and can pretty much access any sporting event you might want to watch. Food-wise it's pretty much what you'd expect in a sports bar... apps, wings, burgers, samplers, etc. That being said, nobody that I know goes to watch a game and orders Duck Confit. The food is not overpriced, the portion size is good, and it comes quickly even when it's busy. One of the best parts of Sports Column is that it's a pretty big bar. Even on big game days there is usually elbow room which is a good thing for riot prevention when you have Bears/Packers and Cowboys/Redskins on the same day. I mean, nobody want's to get blood on their wings, right?
