Having just helped my 17 year old dog find her rest, it is hard right now to put into words how much I think of Dr. Elizabeth Harr and her staff here at Delmont Vet. My dog is the only one I raised from a puppy at 8 weeks and I knew I needed expert medical care and advice. I knew when I met Dr. Harr she was the right choice for my Lady and I. She was always kind, knowledgeable and so sweet to her. I trusted her opinion implicitly. My girl came home to be with us when my children were in elementary school and they are both now adults, with one having a child of her own. I know Lady would have never had the long life she had with us without the expert advice and care of everyone at Delmont Vet. From the first visit to the last, I have never been sorry I trusted these caring people. Thank you Dr. Harr and staff. I will never forget you.

It's been terrible since Dr. Krazel is gone and the finance manager is very rude, nasty and unprofessional

I don't know what's happening with Delmont Veterinary Hospital. The staff seems to change on a regular basis, including a few of the doctors going missing and several of the techs. The wait is usually pretty long when I go and ever since my favorite vet left, I haven't found another one there that I like. They are disorganized and inefficient. I'm really considering finding a new place, but I've been going to Delmont for so long, I hate to see that happen.

Highly recommended. They handled an emergency with my dog 30 minutes prior to closing and stayed an extra hour to help her. We are much happier there than we were with out previous vet.

Early in January, my wife and I called our regular veterinarian clinic, Delmont Veterinary Hospital to have our dog euthanized. We called as soon as the office opened at 9:00 AM on January 5, 2010 and explained in detail why we wanted the euthanasia performed . The receptionist put us on hold a few times while she consulted with the veterinarian who was available, Dr. Means and/or Dr. Krazel. When she returned, she said to bring our dog in at 10:00 AM. When we arrived, I took our dog into the office, assuming that the euthanasia would be carried out as agreed upon during the phone call. Dr. Means then came into the room and explained that they were able to make arrangements to have our dog placed in a “shelter”. My wife waited in the car because she was too distraught to attend the procedure. When I objected to the alternative plan that the facility presented, and explained that we wanted the euthanasia, she “strong-armed” me to call my wife on my cell phone. I explained to my wife what was transpiring and the Dr. eventually got on the phone with her. Dr. Means asked my wife if she would be interested in exploring the possibility of having our dog placed elsewhere and my wife said she would come in to talk about it. During the next 30 minutes or so, 2-3 veterinary technicians came in, Dr. Means literally stormed out of the room when we would not agree to the alternative plan, because we insisted that the euthanasia be carried out as agreed upon during our earlier phone conversation. She eventually came back in and said they did not do convenience euthanasia. She said we would have to find somewhere else to go. While we respect the principles of Delmont Veterinary Hospital and their efforts to find an alternative to the euthanasia, we feel that it was unethical as well as inconsiderate to set up the appointment for the euthanasia only to make these alternative arrangements without our knowledge, and causing us additional anxiety, stress and pain regarding our decision. Please note that we have utilized Delmont Veterinary Hospital for 3 animals during the past 7 years. A few years ago, we had a cat euthanized there without incident. We still had one cat and one dog. No phone call was ever made to us prior to Delmont Veterinary Hospital contacting the adoptive shelter, nor were we ever advised that this was a possibility during the course of making the appointment. The decision to euthanize our pet was not an easy one; it was difficult and heart-breaking, but we did what we thought was best for our pet and our own peace of mind going forward. Therefore, we would like to file a complaint against this veterinary medicine provider, so this kind of situation does not happen to another family.
