Overall

I have lived at Jackson square for almost two years now. Initially the management was terrible. But about six months into my first lease management definitely changed for the better. However this past weekend, both my neighbor's truck and my vehicle were broken into, vandalized, and tires were stolen. I'm smart enough to know that these things happen anywhere and I hate to speak badly about the whole property. However, given the fashion of how the vandalism and theft of 8 20 inch tires occurred in a gated community with a supposed courtesy officer, I have a strong suspicion that one of the staff had some involvement. I attempted to contact the office the day of the incident but no one answered the phone. By now I would have at least expected a courtesy call from the property manager. Overall its a great location at a great price, but if you choose to live here I would definitely invest in some auxiliary security. The neighbors are also friendly and up to this point I have had a good relationship with management.

These apartments are well buil...

These apartments are well built with high ceilings, serious decorative molding and accent painting, and the grounds are pretty and well-maintained. Thus the two stars. Everything else was horrible. We found ourselves infested with bedbugs shortly after moving in. The management said "how do we know you didn't bring them with you?" Talk about adding insult to injury! The exterminator they sent confided that unit had been a big problem since the last tenant moved out, had lain vacant and had been treated right before we moved in for bedbugs. Confronted with that information, management agreed to pay for more treatment and told us to move into a model unit. Even though we asked for help physically moving they wouldn't help. We are in our fifties and carrying everything was not easy, and we had to practically boil all fabric and clothing - a tedious and time-consuming process. We were told the apartment had been treated successfully and to move back. Again no help with moving. We moved everything back only to find bedbugs were still there. We moved to the model again, without help. Moved back again, without help. The model unit's freezer and dishwasher did not work, we asked repeatedly that they be repaired and were assured the would be. They never were fixed, and all told we were living there for a long time.

The second treatment worked, but even without bedbugs it's not a place we were comfortable living. Crime. Our car was broken into. Noisy residents, lots of very loud talking and laughter right outside our window. TERRIBLE cellphone signals from all carriers, including Verizon. People walk out to the parking to be able to make calls at all. We bought a $275 network extender for which we have no use now.

When we moved out they tried to dun us for an extra day at "market rent." Our move-out day was on a Sunday. We got everything moved out by 6pm and looked for a drop box or mail slot for the keys, but there is none. I left a voice message to document the fact that we did indeed move out on our move-out day, but nobody was there to take the keys. Management refused to take our keys during a walk-through the next day claiming it was "still your apartment" so they could charge us for another day. My husband blew his stack and we just left. I don't blame him. Also buried in the fine print of the contract is a requirement that you have must have the carpets professionally cleaned on the day you vacate. We didn't see that, offered to have it done the next day and they said it was too late - $75 off our deposit for a job that probably cost $30. They will rip you off every chance they get.
