DeVenco Products

Last June we had DeVenco install plantation shutters for 17 windows and for our french doors. We are so very disappointed in their product and service. The paint job was just awful and had to be redone multiple times. We still have issues such as peeling of paint at the edge of the louvers, there are still many louvers where the paint was not applied evenly, they painted over watermarks, painted the wrong color, many of the shutters squeak when you open and close them, some do not close properly, etc. They shipped us multiple shipments of replacement louvers, which turned out to be even worse in some cases. We recently had a renovation job done in excess of $100,000 including refinishing our hardwood floors. When their installer came, we covered our floors to protect them. Wayne Austin, principal of the company, wrote the following to VISA "He (the installer) also informed me that she had laid down sheets and blankets across the floor anywhere he might have to step while installing the shutters. I am now starting to wonder how many cats she has." His sarcasm shows how little respect he has for his customers and their homes. He is a very smooth salesman and their incredible advertising is what sold me. Unfortunately, I had to find out that their product and service does not match up to their advertising. Also, I learned that the work they performed in Williamsburg was over a decade ago and I just wonder if all the other wonderful references they give are not from eons ago as well. Several of our neighbors had ordered shutters made in Mexico and China, which I wanted to avoid for a fraction of the price we paid DeVenco.. However, I must say our neighbors shutters look beautiful and work perfectly which I can't say for the DeVenco shutters. Needless to say I would never order from them again nor can I recommend them. The biggest mistake I made was that I paid them in full in good faith before they delivered what they promised.
