DIB has been a fixture in our family since my three brothers and I were kids (the 60's). While my bros. lived and died by their pizza, I loved their fresh bread and apricot/raspberry filled kolache (pastries). I don't live in the Dearborn area anymore, but I visit often. 90% of the time I stop there to pick up something for mom or bring back to my home state. Their stuffed cabbage is superb and they have other fresh made foods (specials change each day). Take out pizzas are quite large. The dough, while thick crust, is not as heavy as other places. They have a great selection of deli meats and pastries, and there is a grocery section in the back that stocks lots of authentic Italian ingredients. I wish I could clone them to take back out west with me.

Very good

They sell pizza dough balls. Great fresh bread. Yummy assorted cookies. I don't know that this is a five star place but the 1 star ratings are way off base. I haven't tried the hot food but I imagine it's great cuz the products I do buy keep me coming back.

Pizza's not that fresh

bought pizza here several times and noticed that the pizza here sits longer than 4 or 5 hours. So if you like old pizza with flies buzzing above, come buy your slice here. i'm going to pass on this one!

a blast from the past

When I was a little girl I can remember my brother bringing home pizza after he had done his paper route. I was always so jealous he was old enough to go all the way to telegraph to get it and I couldnt. Every now and then I got lucky and he would buy me a piece. So when I got older I have made sure to make as many trips back as possible just for their pizza and pizza rolls. My children all share my love for their pizza. I have not come across another pizza that is as good. The sauce cannot be copied. Jets is pretty good, but in my opinion nothing can compare to their pizza. And the cookies are delicious as well. I am truelly a fan and I wish they had more stores preferably closer to me. Please dont change a thing.

Want a Unique Morning Treat?

The Breakfast Pizza from Dearborn Itlaian Bakery is fantastic. This has become an office favorite for an AM delight available from DIB. The staff at the bakery is very accomodating and will cut the breakfast pizza into larger or smaller squares as necessary.

They really shouldn't let disgruntled ex-employees write reviews, but I guess free speech is everybody's right.
I've had several friends that worked at Dearborn Italian Bakery and had nothing but nice things to say about it.
I don't care what they do to the Pizza to make it taste so good, but keep on doing it.
D.I.B. is your typical italian shop. Pastries, Pizza, Subs, Lasagna, fresh meats and cheeses.
I've been told that the Pizza is a bit of an acquired taste, but everyone that likes it, LOVES IT.
It's deep dish, similar to what a Papa Romano's pizza looks like but with better sauce and cheese.
Oh, and if you like bacon on your pizza, this is the Holy Grail. They use thick cut crispy bacon on their Pizzas.
Lastly, I ordered 2 of the largest pizza they had, when I went to pay, I thought it was really expensive, then I got the pizza. I didn't realize there extra large was over 2 feet long and a foot and a half wide. It was way more pizza than the 7 of us could eat.

Stay Clear of the ""DIB"" (Dearborn Italian Bakery)

Recently I walked into the Dearborn Italian bakery with high hopes, of good service and food. I walk around the store observing items, which are in lack, personally looked like the items have been outdated for some time. Anyhow, I walked up to the counter to order some pizza, she wasn't polite.

Later in the week, I returned to the bakery with my application all filled out, and the owner, whose name I won't mension, greeted me there, and told me to come in for an interview two days from then. I went in for the interview on time with a nice outfit. I was then escorted up to the owners office where he went on to give me some speech on how he takes care of his employees, and he opp. a fair business, and then offered me the job.

Day Two. I was to scrub the walls in th kitchen this day with another employee. As I did so the other employee has his bucket of soaps and bleach all over the preparation counter in the proximity of other foods, while the cook is throwing in some pizza and bread. I was appauled at how this is being run. There is bleach on the dough flattener, soap and chemicals on the prep. table where food is being prepared and made.

Later in the week, I was called and told that I would no longer be needed for the job. WTF? I was just hired from this boss, who told me he took good care of his employees blah blah blah, and I worked hard for him, and now im fired??! Well, thats it, I decided to come on here and share with u their secrets, and the negatives of the so wonderful ""DIB"".

Next time you think you want pizza or bread, or any convenient store item, don't go to the Dearborn Italian Bakery. The floors are dirty, there might be chemicals in your food that you don't want in your body! And the workers are not required to wear gloves when workin with your food! And the management and owners are not fair to their workers. Very unethical. Beside the point, their food is flat out grosse.
