The University of Dayton is one of the nation's largest Catholic universities and Ohio's largest private university. The school houses a residential learning community with more than 70 academic programs in arts and sciences, business administration, education and allied professions, engineering and law. The university is home to the Marianists, a Catholic community of religious priests, brothers, sisters, and lay men and women who live Christian life as the Virgin Mary did. The University of Dayton is also ranked among national Catholic universities and among the top national universities in the country, according to America's Best Colleges from U.S. News and World Report. Founded in 1849 by Father Leo Meyer, The University of Dayton is located in Dayton, Ohio.
