If you're looking for good food, you've found your place. But unfortunately you can find a place with good food that is ruined by the service or even the attitude of those providing your food. This is what I encountered at Ajanta: a dull environment (depressing colors), unfriendly service (depressing people), but great food! At times I was a little afraid to ask for things cause I was afraid I would be annoying my male waiter (I had two waiters). I usually do not drink out of restaurant glasses because most places do not do a great job of disinfecting the glasses, so I like to ask for a straw. My waiter seemed to be frustrated with my request and so threw the straw on my plate. He even ignored my mom when she asked what type of rice he was putting down on the table. I had to give him a second request in a demanding tone in order for him to reply. However, the food was fantastic. For starters, me and my mother shared the mixed platter with samples of several appetizers on the menu. For the main entree, I had chicken Sigaan and my mother ordered Lamb korma. Both dishes were tasty, but I think the korma was tastier. Our bread addition was the garlic nan, which was great as well. The portions are nice sized and the food is reasonably priced. Coming from New York City I know good Indian, but my only issue is the cold service. All in all if you don't need service with a smile and a pleasant attitude to enjoy your food, this is a great place.

I have used MANY caterers both in my personal life and to cater non-profit events...and no one has blown me away like Scratch. I've used them to cater personal events at my house (4 times), my baby shower (of over 100 people), more than 10 non-profit events...and I keep going back because he has the ability to make the food fit both the theme & budget of the event... The owner Matt Hayden is probably one of the most creative chefs I have ever worked with...his spreads will make you feel like you've hired a fancy NYC caterer. He does delicious comfort foods, unique spins on classic flavors and molecular gastronomy that will blow your mind. Plus he ALWAYS over-delivers! I will warn you people grab him up quickly - so if you are looking for a caterer get on his schedule fast (especially during event season).
I've never had a bad meal or bad service here. The staff is so friendly. The bartender remembered that I really like their hot salsa so she put it in my carry out before I even asked. Fresh, various salsas, the best chorizo I've ever had... great drinks... very fair prices! This place is one of Dayton's best kept secrets- they received a negative review from the City Paper about a year ago- I don't know what they were talking about! Someone I work with actually goes there once a week so he can try everything on the menu. They need business! I would HATE to see such a great place go away... please support! You will not be disappointed...
