My Bosch dishwasher stopped working after a power hit on 2 January. Suspected circuit board fried from gitgo, prepared for bad news.

Tech came out on 5th or 6th, pulled out appliance, and checked control unit on right side. Did control unit test, indicated original control unit fried. Est repair $430 including one svc call and control unit. Ordered replacement control unit that day, it arrived following week.

Biz owner (The Boss) came out on the 13th to install replacement control unit, which would not work. On inspecting packaging, he suspected the part was used, and declared it defective. He reinstalled original control unit.

In the interim, The Boss did a precursory search around with a flashlight and smelled burning insulation, with smoke coming from terminal control box in front. Seems Justin Case was watching out for us. The Boss took off front valance and found exposed burnt insulation on hot wire. He said the wire had worked loose from machine screw terminal causing voltage drop to control unit, causing malfunction, but no electronics damage. The Terminal box WAS damaged, I guess the cost about $30 or $40. A lot less than $350 for the control unit! He said likely cause was faulty installation (7 years ago) by under-torqued connections, which explained brief recovery. He ordered a new terminal box and will install it for $96 with parts in addition to the single service call. That was about 40% of the original estimate.

He also mentioned new electrical code will require plug-in wall outlets for dishwashers.

I can't guarantee appliance repairs will go that well for everyone, but I find these people to be honest and perfectly reliable, and with a Holmes-Poirot-Father Brown doggedness to get to the bottom of the issue. Other sources here in Yelp, as well as others, rate Scott's as highly as I. They DO come out here to the Wild West as well as Baldwin County.

BTW I installed the appliance in 2015 so it was my fault the connections were under-torqued. That is, I should have used a socket instead of a screwdriver.

The next patient will get the Scott Appliance treatment for sure.

We opened an American Home Shield service request and paid the trade call fee ($75). AHS contracted the appliance repair service out to Whirlpool. Whirlpool subcontracted the job out to Scott's Appliance Service.

Scott's Appliance technician inspected the appliance and concluded that the appliance was not faulty. The technician told my wife that the issue was electrical service to the appliance and stated that we needed to have an electrician repair the service. My wife was then told that because the issue was not with the appliance, Whirlpool (their contractor) would not pay Scott's Appliance (the subcontractor) for their work. In turn he had my wife write him a check for $90 to cover their service call.

In the professional world, the subcontractor would have contacted the contractor for payment of services rendered.
Requesting additional or even any payment from my wife is unethical as it leads to potential double dipping on a project.
Had we requested additional services, the relationship would have changed and direct charges may have been justified.

Discussion with Scott's Appliance (Ellen), resulted in continual interruptions and ended up hanging up the phone due to the hostile nature of the conversation.

While the technician was professional, courteous, and did a great job, I cannot recommend Scotts appliance due to unethical and unprofessional billing practices.

----------------------- Update -----------------------
Just got off the phone with both AHS and Whirlpool. According to both entities, it is not acceptable for the technician to charge a service fee when responding to a prepaid warranty claim.

I suggest you review your contractual agreement with those companies. If there is a future concern about this, a wiser route would be to invoice the home owner instead of demanding payment at the time of service.

I made sure to let Whirlpool know that this is standard practice with your company.

Had a wonderful experience with the Scott's Appliance service team. The tech was very professional and knowledgeable about my Samsun refrigerator and took the extra time to be sure that I was happy with my repair and also answered questions about my other appliances I had. Will recommend them to all my friends!

I have always used Scott's Appliance Service since I moved here four years ago. I have had just about all of my appliances looked at for one reason or another; I called yesterday because my dryer had gone out and a tech was out this morning with a part in hand for me. I have received spectacular service from all of their technicians and I wouldn't recomend anyone else. They are just wonderful people, a local, family owned business who has their hearts in their work. Who can ask for more?

Never use this company! The repairmen do not know how to ring a door bell and the appointment scheduler can't type a phone number correctly and my favorite.... it was my fault!!!

Wonderful Wonderful Wonderful....

Wonderful Wonderful Wonderful. The girls in the office are so friendly and helpful. I had a service call set up for the next day. The technicians were on time and professional. They cleaned up after themselves and were very polite. My part for my refrigerator was in within days and I was promptly called and set up for another call. You do not pay them until the job is completed so you know they will not run off with your money. I will call them for every appliance repair needed from now on.

I called Scott's Appliance to ...

I called Scott's Appliance to fix my dishwasher, spoke to Ellen twice. Had an appointment for the next day between 1-3pm, no one showed so at 3pm I called and spoke to Ellen. After speaking with her twice the day before she had no idea who I was and did not have me on the schedule. She did finally remember me after I explained my unique situation. She was very rude and gave me nothing but attitude and never apologized. I would not use this company "If they were the last appliance repair company on earth." There are plenty of other company's that are willing to give great customer service from the minute you answer the phone till the repair is complete. Tyson Appliance is one of them. They did a great job.

I am sorry for your problem. You have rated the wrong company as there is no female employee at Scott's Appliance Service Inc.

Will never try and fix my own appliance again after finding these guys. Came out same day and when they said they would. Not only fixed the dryer but explained the why and how, they know their stuff. I wouldn't recommend anyone but Scott's.
