It has ROACHES! I was with my friend when I noticed the roach that jumped into his arm. We just could not eat after thin incident.

First, we were ordering the food and I noticed something by the desk toward where the delivery menu were placed but I was not sure if it was a bug of any other kind, so I let it go. Then our food was ready and when we were walking out the door, my friend told me to wait and at the same time a roach jumped to my right arm (one of the little fast ones), I immediately took it out of my arm and it fell to the floor. we walked back in to the restaurant and told the manager, he came out and killed it. He told me that "Roaches are everywhere", like it was not big deal! I answered that it was true that roaches are everywhere but not jumping out of your food!. I told him about the other bug I saw. He asked if we wanted something else, we said no, just our money back. We left the food, he apologized and we left. What a horrible experienced! I still feel the roach in my right arm!

New Look and Very Friendly!

HungryChinaMan was right on with this place, the new owners are VERY NICE and the food was really good! I read the older reviews and wanted to give an update for those other people who are looking for something good to eat. I had a great experience there, and it looks like they are fixing the place up too! BEST WISHES and when I go back to the area I will be eating there!!!

Under new management!

I took my parents to Dallas to visit some family. We were hungry so decided to stop for Italian food and we stopped by this place called Valentino.... Little did we know it was a Chinese take out! Anyway, we decided to eat there anyway and were pleasantly surprised with the food and service... the new owner is a young Chinese guy who speaks Spanish's!!! I guess he took over the restaurant earlier this year... Don't know what the place looked like before but it seems that the place is being refurbished.

my favorite chinese restaurant!

the food is so delicious, good prices, abundant food given, and nice people.

ive been going to valentino's chinese restaurant for 6+ years, before the just recently moved. the same family that owns it, you can see every time. my husband never liked chinese until he tried it here!

Sorry Excuse for Chinese Food.

I had tried Valentino's a couple of years ago and was sadly disappointed by what they consider Chinese food. I gave them another try this weekend~ couldn't believe it but it was worse!! Their fried rice, the main staple with most of the entrees is nothing more than dry dirty rice~ not real fried rice~ where's the veggies, where's the eggs, where's the taste?? The basic, hard to screw up Sweet and Sour Chicken, ha! Where were the fruits and veggies in the entree? Pieces of dried chicken with dirty rice do not make Sweet and Sour Chicken. Going to McD's and picking up a 10 piece Chicken Nugget w/ Sweet and Sour dipping sauce comes closer to authentic Chinese food then this dry overpriced slop they try to pull off as Chinese food. They are about as Chinese food as their name. Do yourself a favor and pass them up, this is the worst Chinese food restaurant.

Mediocre food, Lousy Service

So I'm stuck at home, hungry and think, ""Chinese Delivery! Valentinos is right down the street, I've eaten their food and it was ok, but they'll bring it to me! Yay!"" So I call em up and ask if they deliver. I'm met with two conditions; 1) $12 minimum (already a downer. Do I want to spend $12 for mediocre chinese?) and 2) if it is close enough (no problem. I happen to know they are 2 mi away. my mistake)

After a 5 minute conversation about how to locate me the nice phone lady asked some male voice and he said ""$3"". They wanted to charge $3 to deliver a minimum of $12 of so so food. EPIC FAIL. I won't be calling them back or trying to recommend them to anyone.

In OC, go to Hong Kong Garden. Great food. Great price, but alas no delivery.

For those that don't care about actual taste....

Eee gads!!! This is what happens when people who don't know what delicious Chinese food tastes like go and write reviews on other websites and then unsuspecting out-of-towners like myself read all of the 5-star reviews and decide to try the place only to find out the restaurant IS NOT what people claim it to be. So sad.....
Well, in a nutshell, this is a mom-n-pop place that is run by a Chinese-American couple, however their cook is Hispanic and the patrons mostly so, as the neighborhood around Valentino's is very Hispanic. While this doesn't always necessarily mean that the restaurant would not be authentic (as there have been mom-n-pops that have surprised me in the past), it is a shame that it is not. I had the sesame chicken (I know, I know...sesame chicken is not really ""chinese"") and my husband had the double cooked pork. Both major disappointments, as there was hardly any flavor to either meal. If you are reading this and are thinking, ""Well, then hey, what is 'authentic' outside of Los Angeles, Vancouver or New York, especially when it comes to Chinese food in Dallas,"" I would direct fellow gourmands to the Richardson area, around Greenville Ave. and Belt Line near Highway 75 (Central Expressway). The majority of the restaurants there serve Taiwanese food, so if you've been to Beijing or the environs, you'll find the cuisine similar. Maxim's does a decent job of Dim Sum (somewhat similar to that of the Hong Kong variety) and other restaurants close to the Asian supermarket side (East side of Greenville Rd and North of Terrace Drive), make items like Xiao Long Bao (soupy pork dumplings) quite well. So, for newbies like me, or those of you that wrote reviews for Valentino's, please give the Richardson area a try. Thanks for reading my review.
