My sister Carol owns Boyken Kennel. Because I live in Florida I've never seen how she manages her kennel until these past few weeks during the Thanksgiving holiday when I was there for a visit. The first thing I saw was how well she took care of so many dogs and how she was so diligent with keeping their kennels clean, washed them daily so the dogs had a happy place to eat, play and sleep. During feeding time she took special care with each dog to be sure they were all well feed, every afternoon she went out to the kennel and gave them a biscut treat.....they all loved it. Because she has three dogs who will be with her for an extended visit she took them out of their individual kennel, even though they also have their own individual outside kennel area to play in, and let them run and smell and have a good time stretching their legs in her large fenced in areas, and she does this free of charge. I saw her taking special time with the dogs who were scared to be away from home or had behavior type issues. She did behavioral therapy as a courtesy with no extra charge unless a customer requested her teaching/training classes. She advertises that she is closed on Thursday and Sunday, however this doesn't mean she takes the day off because she still took 100% care of her guests. Customers were always arriving to either bring or pick up their dogs, and because she is very flexible she always stayed home to accomodate their schedules whether it was her closed days or not. I saw how her customers love her, almost everyone gave her hugs and some brought her holiday gifts, and the generous tips she was given was proof to me how they all were appreciative of the excellent and loving care she gave to what she calls, "their babies".
My dog is part of my family - not just a pet. And truthfully, I feel guilty that I have to travel so much for work and leave him behind. So when I moved to Dallas, I went to 14 different boarding facilities to check them out. What I liked best about BHV is EVERYTHING! The staff was amazing, the kennel areas were customized for what's best for the pets, and it was clean!! (I can barely keep my house clean with one dog, so this seemed absolutely miraculous to me!) When they gave me a tour, it was unexpected, but there weren't any areas they wouldn't let me see - and there was nothing out of place. They explained why they did certain things, like the type of fence they used, in reference to why it was best for my pet - not just the cheapest option. Needless to say, I was impressed. And my pup always comes home clean and playful, not like I left him in prison - which is how he was when I took him to another place...which I won't name, but rhymes with 'Let's Heart.' ;) Anyways, THANK YOU Barking Hound Village, for your remarkable staff, amazing facilities, and mostly - peace of mind (FINALLY)!
I have two dogs with different needs. I have a one year old Springer Spanial and a 14 year old senior Springer. I have had a difficult time finding one place that can accomodate both dogs until I found Classy Canine Daycare. The pup can hang out with a pack of higher energy dogs while my senior dog can chill with a pack that more suits his social needs. Both of my dogs love to go to CCD and come home exhausted and happy. The staff really knows how to make you and the pups feel very special. Cleanliness is very important to us and it is obvious it is at CCD as well. I love getting the dogs groomed here. I love to watch them strut their stuff when they know how good they look and feel. I know most of the staff by name. They are all friendly. The manager Jay, constantly impresses me with his dog knowledge and I respect the way he and the rest of the staff are always wanting to sincerely please you, the customer. Give it a try...I know you will be hooked and your pup will too!!!
